A few questions about Rashard...

I didn't really like Rashard's signing, but I don't want to sound biased. I've just seen a few games of the Magic this season, and, in the games I've seen, I've never seen Rashard with a competitive fire. Don't get me wrong, he's made great shots in the season, and I partially concur with him being one of the reasons why Hedo has emerged as a top notch player this season (I say partially, because I don't buy the argument that "he's getting paid that money to step down as the 3rd option, since the team excels that way"). So I have a few questions about him:
1. Has anyone seen him showing some passion, or courage to win games this season with the Magic?
2. If the answer is no, was he the same with the Sonics?
3. Why is it that he's getting paid and being given the chance to play along one of the greatest young bigs in the game, and he still doesn't show passion?

Not cold-blooded considering all of the laughing he is doing on the court even when he isn't showing up for a game in body.
Just look at his stats for the game.

congratulations on looking at one game and judging a player's entire season based on it. You've just attained the status of "newbtard".

Rashard does show passion, but usually not until the 4th quarter. He's very calm and collected, like most veterans are. He doesn't complain to the officials and he doesn't get into confrontations with opponents. It's just not his style. But he does have passion. Many times this year we've seen him raise up in the 4th and drill a 3 with fire. We've seen him take on the challenge and come through with a game winner against Detroit.

He's not going to go crazy with emotion, but that doesn't mean he doesn't play with passion.

I've been very happy with Rashard. He's very efficient (puts up points without getting lots of shots or touches), doesn't suck as bad on D as his reputation would indcate, is a good team guy, and he hits timely shots.

Sure, he's not the uber-elite player that you would like to get in return for that salary, nor is he a vocal/emotional leader, but he's quietly professional and never complains about being the third option.

Sorry, but I have watched the entire season and Lewis likes to laugh a lot not just one game. And he isn't the only one. Certain people need to realize that yes you can have friends on opposing teams, but when playing them your friendship has to be put aside and you need to go for the throat or your going to end up on the lossing side too often.
You are the one who has responded as tho you have just watched one game. Lewis having fire now that is funny. The only fire he had was when he signed that huge contract he got from Otis.
And calling a poster names is breaking the forum rules and is not called for.

It was an ugly game no doubt.

Lewis is doing what he has done all year, except tonight things worked against him.

No big deal.

Almost all players laugh at times. The regular season is too much of a grind not to. Making anything more out of it is unrealistic.

The playoffs are a different story.

What you see with Rashard on the court is just like he is in real life. He is a carefree guy that doesn't live or die basketball. In Seattle Ray Allen was the leader. As over the years everyone from Antonio Daniels, Brent Barry, Gary Payton took on the leadership responsibilty. I guess if Rashard has a similarity to Tmac its that.

Eh...I really don't care to much about it tonight. We've got the number 3 seed locked up. Shard will definately bring it during the playoffs. No doubt. . . .

Besides...problem number one is... Dwight only had 8 touches the enitre game...

no rashard's personality just isnt like that he is calm and doesnt crack under pressure with emotion. i love the guy hes a great addition to this team and just because hes not a hot head on the court yellin doesnt mean he isnt passionate. and every once in a while he does get pretty angry

Shard is a different kind of kat. Hes very calm, but very focused. Hes a vet, a professional and a family man. He won't complain to officials and hardly never curses. Cougar I go to alot of games and I have seen him fired up plenty of times.

The play keyon dunked during the philly game he was yelling louder than kedo.

we gonna break down the free throws too? seeing a lot of those come from grabbing offensive rebounds and going back up i wouldn't exactly consider those touches in the offense. The whole point is dwight doesn't get the ball enough for a franchise player or dominant big man. The guy gets the ball very little compared to most great big men.

That's not true about McGrady. I have seen him play some crazy amped-up games. Not like he was going nuts every second of the game -- but some games when he was playing on high emotion.

Rashard has helped us win games, no doubt. His shooting is terrific for a man his size.

But I also blame him for many of our losses. Too often the opponent get easy offensive rebounds and I see Rashard is in the area just standing and watching the ball bounce off the rim without boxing out or hardly trying to jumb. The only time he jumps to snatch that ball off the rim is when no body else is around the rim. Then he catches that ball in the mid air and come down with it with such force you'd think he beat 5 players to get that rebound. He really frustrates me when he puts no effort in grabbing rebounds and helping out Dwight.

I bet that is why Dwight looks so pissed at times in games.

shard has fire... he is calm and collected most of the time but when hes fired up he'll let you know.... as good of a job that svg has done with this team this is one spot i dont think is his best... if you watched shard with seattle his game had much more variety, but here he is used as mostly a spot up shooter..... i dont feel svg has utilized shard to his full potential... but who would you take the shots from and we do have 48 wins so what we have is working pretty good... shard is doing exactly what the coaches want him to do... if we need more from shard in the playoffs, i believe he will step up big time

there's nothing wrong with being stoic or emotionally reserved.

all that really matters is whether or not you take an assertive approach to the game.

sure, lewis could stand to be less passive at times and less willing to defer, but even i'll concede that he does deserve some slack since this is his first season here and because he's often playing at a disadvantage because of his position.

so, all things considered, i guess his mental approach has been fine so far.

i'm just very curious to see how things will work out once he's gotten more used to his teammates and is no longer playing power forward.
