Well just thought my fellow real GM-ers should know that come monday i'll be on a plane for Amsterdam Netherlands. From there I'll be going to France, then Italy. I'm pretty nervous since i'm just going by myself with nothin but a backpack, but I like that kind of spontaneous travel. I don't have a lot of $$ obviously, but I am going to the Ferrari Museum in Italy and of course the red light district in Amsterdam. Anyone have anything they want pics of or some family members that would let me stay with them? well if i marry some beautiful Italian girl and start a winery, it was nice posting with u guys.......

wait a sec, i guess world wide web means i can just get online from there huh? well either way, i'll see u guys next month!

What no love for Germany? What about a trip to Stuttgart (my home town) to see the Porsche museum?

Seriously - have a great time. Hostels used to be cheap place to crash for the night. Not sure about them nowadays ...

1.56 last time I checked. (I'm going to Europe in August so I keep an eye on this).

1.56 USD = 1 Euro.

Do this in google:" 1 Euro to USD " (will work with most currencies) and it will show you the conversion rate.

Excellent trip, I just got back from Amsterdam myself. If your looking for the red light district, you have to take a train from the airport to Centraal station. Its about 20mins. When you leave the station, bear left, cross the street, and walk down Damrak until you come across Dam square. Its marked by this giant phallic symbol and two giant stone lions on either side, you can't miss it. Hang a left and you will walk right into it. Its very touristy, don't worry, but remember that you can't take pictures. They take that very seriously.

I love Europe, and I agree that Germany is a must see. You will ride right through it on the train anyway, so you can at least see it out of the window. Also, Berlin is a great city to party in, its a must see. One of my favorites in Europe by far. Anyway, have a good trip and don't worry about the exchange rate, its worth it.

If you're looking at staying in a hostel in Amsterdam, I "highly" recommend the Flying Pig. There is a bar in the basement where you can smoke and drink to your heart's content. I also recommend hanging around the coffee shops near the train station to get an absurd amount of free "coffee" from people heading out of town.

Hey pedro,
i you're coming down to Italy from Germany, you may want to stop at the Monza racetrack: I guess you're into cars and this is one of the World's top circuits...next month you may catch a round of the FIA GT Championship, anyway the racetrack schedule (in english) is here

EDIT: on second thought, there's the Mugello circuit closer to Ferrari's, it's smaller but it's still a nice track (also featured in some videogames) where they race quite often.

Good for you man, I wish you the best of times. I must say you are very very brave to be backpacking. You are much better man than I am. Dont think I could ever do that. But I can see how much fun you will have. Oh year, dont forget, the red light is for window shopping only.
