Mock Draft

So why would they have us drafting a small forward?
Don't we have like 3 or 4 of them already?
Do they really think He would be best available over all the other positions that we would like to fill?

Most of these mock drafts just have each team taking the best player available in their opinion as opposed to what each team actually needs.

Chase Budinger would be a good pick down at our spot I think. To the Magics credit we don't need a rotation player per se and so really it is about long term flexibility and talent level. He gives us both. The kid can play. I think that the only position we draft that will break the rotation is if we draft a pg. I hope we do, but again, if we get this kid, great.

Actually, nbadraft.net has him as a SG so I assume if the Magic were fortunate to have Budinger fall to them he could fill the 2 spot for the Magic.
I don't understand why they have us taking Budinger over Rush. I know that Rush hurt himself before last years draft but he seems to be healed pretty well. Not to mention that Brandon Roy had issues with his knees and he seems to be doing alright. Plus the fact that it doesn't sound like Budinger plays the type of defensive that SVG wants.
So do we want JJ 2.0 or do we want to draft a player that might actually get into the rotation at some point?

if we draft SG/SF, i expect JJ to be moved.
I'd rather have Budinger over Rush. Chase is much more athletic and has better size than JJ, no way he drops to us though.

I live in Tucson and attend the U of Arizona. I'm a reasonably solid UA hoops fan, and I really really don't want the Magic to draft Chase. He's a very good athlete and has good hands, but he plays zero defense, doesn't have a great bball IQ, and doesn't work particularly hard (I've walked past him on campus and he doesn't look like he even knows what the inside of a weight room looks like).

Why wouldn't we move JJ+Pick to move up in the draft and get a better player. It just doesn't make sense not to.

Budinger will be a SG in the league, though he can clearly play both.

He can probably play a little outside hitter, too.

I think Im the only one who likes Brandon Rush over these other cats.. I jus think the dude is gonna be a real good player, he kinda reminds me of Hedo a lil.. I think a guy like Bill Walker who might be there in the 2nd round would be a great pickup too..

Well, someone significantly above them would need to want to make that deal (and we don't know if they will). Exactly how far up the draft ladder do you think that would put them? The Magic would, in effect, be giving up two first-round picks for one. You think that is a good idea, given the number of free agents they have and the fact they have zero cap room?
And what do you want to take if you make that move? Because you would have just given up the only shooting guard who is guaranteed to be on the roster next season.

Well since Stan hasn't played JJ it means that most teams would say he isn't worth giving up their draft choice. Maybe the Magic should play him some in the last games to let the other teams see how he can play otherwise the Magic are not going to get anything for him. That is one giant pipe dream.

And nbadraft.net has the Magic taking Earl Clark.
Just goes to show you how valuable those mock drafts are. . . . Just somebody's personal opinion.
The draft position probably changes daily based on the results of games out west.
