We have a choice....

Post#1 » by Magicalltheway » Fri Apr 25, 2008 2:09 am

Even though 9 of our 14 to's were due to the refs, we have a choice. We can be cocky and ignorant like the Rap fans and blame this loss on the refs, or we can be humble and admit we got beat.

We clearly didnt bring it tonight, we left our hearts here in Orlando. I hope on Saturday we will play the way we know how to play.

Again tonight Dwight was the only player with accomplishments. We are still a young team and let the emotions get the best of us and lost composure.

honestly the refs stucked when it came to calls on both teams, but we need to forget about that and treat game 4 like if it were a do or die. in some sense it is. we need to take game 4 so that we dont give any more life to these raptors. if we take game 4 we can rap it up in orlando.

STFU and blanketing statements are (Please Use More Appropriate Word). The one thing I know is that by calling all Raps fans cocky and ignorant, you yourself are being cocky and ignorant. So I guess I owned you there :D

The Raptors lost the first two fair and square and any logical fan will tell you that. Just like any other team, we have our fair share of "ZOMG! THAT WAS A FOUL THAT COST US THE GAME!" people. So do the Magic, I'm sure.

But the refs have generally been pretty bad in the series, which we can all agree on.

cocky and ignorant like Raptor fans?

Oh Please, for sure there are many arrogant raptor fans, but look how big our fanbase is, there is bound to be more cocky and arrogant fans than other, smaller fanbases.

Back on topic, the refereeing was horrible today. So many illegal screens, and inconsistency on the calls really through the tempo of the game off course. Though I agree the calls went majorly in the Raps favor, I feel we still would've won this game due to how great our team played as a cohesive unit.

We needed this game bad, and if it wasn't for a bosh jumper we would have been leading 2-1. Hoping to see more energy and enthusiasm from your team (especially the guard) in game 4, and I have a feeling we are in for it.

They didnt, you must not have visited their forum. All you heared for the first 2 games is how Dwight kept pushing around and not getting calls.

USTFU, dont get personal , the only thing (Please Use More Appropriate Word) is YOU and the barbie doll in Bosh. The rest of your team played well.

And that was not a foul, barbie doll lost the ball up in the air, cause he cant handle the ball or do anything else with it as you saw tonight/

The Magic lost because they were outplayed.

Not the flops, refs, or home court.

Just outplayed.

Magic did get outplayed

Refs were a factor in momentum

Sea of Red affected us

They made lots of timely 3's

Arroyo sucks

Bad calls aside, the team basically sucked big time today while Toronto played great.

1) Awful 3-point shooting and not giving up on it
2) When we closed the gap end of the 2nd quarter Arroyo took us out of it.
3) Our starting guards did not show up .
4) It's better to put a body on someone like Kapono and even give a good foul rather than let him make open 3's.

Us Magic fans complain like hell when we lose.

I can say there is only a few cool heads (Including Myself) who don't go all crazy in blaming the refs. Because simply tonight we were just beat. You can't go down 21 and blame the refs.

Toronto seriously has just changed the momentum of the series. Game 2 they basically loss the game till the very end. Then game 3, yall killed us. This series in much retrospect has been tighter than most Magic fans claimed it to be. And Toronto slightly has the edge on us for play in the first 2/3 games.

We lost because Nelson got into foul trouble, and we shot 22% from three point land, lets keep it real. There was no disparancy in fouls called, there was maybe 3 or 4 trip difference to the free throw line. I know we love Gortat, but for rebounds we need to give some time to Adonal when Howard needs a spell. Gortat could still get some time . If we are going to use JJ. He needs to get more than three minutes and one shot. I think I see what Stan is doing and I like it. I wish he would have done it a bit earlier at the end of the season after we had sewn up the third seed. He is expanding the rotation some. I see us taking the next game.
out of difficulty comes opportunity.

Game is over with, now. The referees were awful, as they have been in each of the first three games. The Magic fan in me screams that the bad calls are only going against Orlando, but the truth is that Toronto have to put up with it as well. If I am being objective, I would say that Toronto have been at a slight advantage in terms of the decisions - but not because the refs are biased, simply because the Raps are 'playing the game.' They know that the officials are stupid enough to be led by flops, or acting, or faking, or whatever you want to call it, and they are using that to their advantage.

Simple example at the end of game 2: Calderon pulls Nelson's jersey - no call. Dooling makes contact with Calderon on next play - foul called. Why? Because Nelson pulled free of Calderon to try and get the ball, whereas Calderon immediatly made sure that the refs knew he had been impeaded by hitting the deck. If Jameer had followed Calderon's example, the Magic wouldn't have had to survive a last second effort by Bosh.

Someone said earlier that flopping is 'part of the game'. That is an unfortunate truth. Pro-sports is a high stakes business, and it is simple human nature to try and exploit any possible situation to their advantage. I hate seeing it, it is one of the most unsavoury sides to any sport, because it is basically an accepted form of cheating - but until someone in the NBA think-tank makes a decision and brings in some rules to outlaw flopping, it will continue, and I can't blame the Raptors for taking advantage of it.

We had TWICE the amount of FT's they had, 14 for them 27 for us.

The Raps had TWICE the amount of assists as we had, they had over 30 we had like barely 15.

Dwight had 6 TO's.

Those 3, especially the first 2 were just crucial. Jameer, Hedo, Shard combined had almost all of our 15 assists. That's not a good stat, we need the other players to pass the ball well too if we want to be a good team, jacking up shots just won't cut it.

When you get twice the amount of FT's, you try to make most of them, we failed.

The positives....we shot the 3 ball for 22%...we all know that's not gonna happen again. Also we won't be outrebounded like that again, meaning less shots for Toronto and more shots for us. Seeing how these 2 have to do with focus and effort, Stan will rip them a new one and they'll come back to take game 4.
