Need Help...

Post#1 » by Bigmagicfan82 » Sun Apr 27, 2008 3:19 am

I was talking to my friend about Shaq and the reason he left Orlando. I was wondering if you guys know where i can find some info about that. Also where i can find some where he made those statements about Orlando being a dried up pond and about him being to big for the city( or something like that)

Thanks

lexis nexis, usenet archives (try google's), magic fan sites.

i'm even sure our own howard mass has written a couple articles about shaq's departure.

imo, all you really need to know is that jerry west tampered, stern let him get away with it and shaq sucks at making movies.

Also, the rules were different and have changed since then -- under the current CBA, he wouldn't have been able to leave.

Yeah the point of the discussion was that my friend was saying that athletes don't really care about endorsements. They are just happy with the money they get from the league. I told him he was crazy and that players want to be stars just so they can get the endorsements. I gave Shaq as an example. How he wanted to leave for LA so he could get more money from endorsements and get into movies and make rap music. For the most part he didn't believe me.

LOL. 99% of athletes care about any kind of money they can get. Just tell him to trust you on that one and move along. Shaq has somewhat famously said he hasn't touched his NBA contract money so far.

That is still painful.
Basketball is driven by three principles:

1) Movement 2) Application of fundamentals 3) Predictability

LOL...you're friend either doesn't follow sports or is a very utopian thinker. Sounds like you aren't going to win the argument no matter what evidence you present. Good luck.
