Will we be able to keep Hedo?

I think we have him for one more year before he opts out, and he will probably demand a fat paycheck, and rightfully so. But with Howard, and Lewis on the roster, will we be able to add another big contract to the team. On top of that, we have other issues at our guard positions we need to address.

I think next year if he opts out, he is still restricted? no? I'm not certain. But if that is indeed the case I think we will retain him.

I could be wrong here, but Hedo doesn't seem like the type of guy to go elsewhere just for a few extra million.

we will match what anyone offers... this i think will deter other teams from even offering... we will already be over the cap so it doesnt much matter... and if our owners are willing to go over the cap... let them!

Hedo deserves (and should be offered) a 4 year extension in the $40M-$45M range. I believe, this will have Rashard, Jameer & Hedo all coming off the books at once, and allow the Magic to retool around Howard if necessary.

i think hedo is the only player who said... we'll see what happens in regards to his good performance and possibility of relocating...
all the other losers say...oh..im gonna stay for sure..then they go for the $...
that being said...i dont blame him for going after where the money is at because it will be his last big paycheck as he enters his prime.....so yeah....hopefully we are the team that offers him the most $ so he can stay.

The 2008-2009 season will have Turkoglu as a Magician. So regardless of what FA signees are found, Hedo will still be a cog in the team-wheel.
From there, 2009-2010 and beyond, the Magic should have a firm core and can feel free to use Bird rights on Hedo.

Hedo will get paid. I doubt he even gets on the market.

Exactly. Besides, the Magic can resign him and still be under the luxury tax. Just kiss using any MLE's in the future good bye. In other words, we had better make the right choice this off season on whom we use the MLE on.

Hedo's at an age where he wants to be someplace where he can win a championship. That's here. The Magic will make him a decent offer, and I'm sure he will take it (after a little dickering, of course).

Really? I'm starting to warm up to J.R. Smith. I think that guy has game and would be able to reach his potential under a great coach like Stan. Childress is interesting though... And of course I fantasize about Corey Maggette.

Let's not forget that he left a championship contender to come here in the first place (presumably because SA didn't offer him as much as we did).
But you gotta lock him up this summer. He gets an AS berth on his resume, his price goes up, not down.

i think hedo will stay, hes become what he is in orlando, plus when its contract time he will be 30+ so he wont get a crazy payday because of age so we should be able to afford him, plus it also depends on how we use him next year, i really think he needs to become our new sg and slide shard back to his natural spot

He will be our two next year. Otis has pretty much said so when he said he wanted to see about having Nelson, Battie, Howard, Turk and Lewis together before he does anything.
That to me means Mo might be gone, if we lock him up, have Bogans and MO come off the bench trade JJ for a pick, If we dont then Bogans and JJ come off the bench.
I worry about Turk at the two spot, the past experiments with him there he was burned often by quicker SGs.

Well, when Turk opts out, Shard will be making $85 million over the last 4 years of his deal.
That's a good bargaining chip for Turk's agent.
I could see him wanting $60 million over 5 years if he plays at an all-star level again next season.
