How would I go about doing this? There's no way I'll get drafted, of course, but I'd like to do it all the same. Do I call the NBA Office, or is there something online, or what?

1) put together an highlight video
1b) hire agent -not a must
2) mail your intent to declare letter along with video to the NBA office

you can also fax/email the letter i believe

Ron, can they reject your letter? Or can you declare yourself just by submitting

I think you declare and show up on their lists just by submitting whatever the requirements were. I remember some dude Marc Daniels interviewed on his old radio show at 740 The Team that did that.

What are the requirements though? I haven't found anything online. I guess I'll put an email into nba.com or something and hopefully get it redirected to the office?

its a gray area, if you meet the requirements you are technically on the list, however if the NBA sees it has a joke or unfit they can reject your declaration...I already gave you the requirements, it's that easy...

Sports To Do List for 2008:

- Declare myself for the 2008 draft.
- Retire from International Football for both England and Ireland.

[Thats another thing, you can offically retire from international football, your respective FA will send you a "oh so sorry to hear about this" offical letter, its ace].

Some sportswriter did an article about this -- even going through the process himself and trying to declare for the draft. Fairly certain he was just outright rejected as, joke or not, he had no chance.

It actually may have been Bill Simmons, but I'm not sure, it's probably been three years since I read the article.

I'll see if I can find the article.

It'd be kind of funny for someone on here (with zero chance) to try and go through the process and updating on here. Maybe I can be your agent. :)
