So, through this series I realized...

Post#1 » by magicfanejc42 » Tue May 6, 2008 3:35 am

This team does not need Hedo, even though I love how good of a player he has turned into, and can still be, having him and Shard does not work in the playoffs. We lose out on defense, and IMO, if the refs aren't going his way, he loses his head and starts chucking bad shots.
This team needs, NEEDS a defensive stopper along side Dwight, Evans does his best job at the 2 and Lewis playing a 3 would do a mroe than adequate job. I have two in my mind, and one that REALLY pops out...

I say we do a trade for a newly signed player...

Magic Trade

Hedo
Cook
Fran
Future First

Atlanta Trades

Josh Smith (6yrs/72 mil)

Then the Magic re-sign, Evans,Gortat
Use the MLE on Maggette
Use LLE on Jason Williams, and Chris Mihm
Draft-I don't like this years draft really at all, but we can hope Koufos OR Rush falls to us. And maybe if Chalmers stays in the draft we can trade JJ for him.

The 08-09 Roster

Nelson/Williams/Chalmers
Maggette/Rush/Bogans
Lewis/Evans
Smith/Battie/Mihm
Howard/Gortat/Foyle(Maybe)

Having Smith turns the Orlando Magic into a version of the PHX Suns...Dwight is Josh's Shaq, while Smith is Dwight's Amare.. Maggette is a solid 17ppg with Lewis dropping 18ppg and Dwight with 20ppg, then add Smith with his 18ppg this team would be offensively potent, and Defensively one of the strongest in the NBA if not THE strongest.

I understand the Detroit series isn't over yet, but at the end of it, we will still need these sort of improvements....I think these moves can and will turn us into contendors immediately.

The Hawks are trading for another SF. There not trading Josh for Hedo. Without Hedo you loose your best ballhandler and passer.

Josh Smith is the wrong player to shot for...But ive been saying this for the longest time...We need to move Hedo

I mean besides that fact that he has choked this entire Playoffs...Playing two SF's is just not effective in the playoffs.

Really? So game 1 of this series he choked? Against Toronto he averaged 17.8 pts, 5.4 assists, and 7.8 rebounds, how is that "choking"? He had a bad game tonight, and really 5-11 with 7 assists isn't horrible, but I will acknowledge that he sucked in the 4th.

I dont see any reason to move Hedo, unless we can net a big time PF.. An thats very very unlikely..

By the way, the mere fact that Prince is on Hedo benefits Rashard tremendously. You don't think Hedo would like to have Maxiel or Wallace covering him on the perimeter? And as much as Hedo sucked cajones in the 4th, his play in the 3rd was huge in the Magic getting back into the game.

Hedo got robbed on so many calls tonight it was ridiculous. That said, I can't understand why he kept insisting on going left. He can go either direction comfortably, but there must have been something in the play design of those pick and rolls. Also, he needs to shoot some midrange jumpers off the dribble instead of going to the bucket every time so the help defense doesn't get used to waiting for him there.

I think NBA type basketball you need a more physical PF.

You don't have to trade Hedo if you get a legit 6th man type big to come off the bench.

If you could get a guy like Jeff Foster or Kurt Thomas to backup both Dwight and Rashard I think you'd be ok.

Or you could try to move Hedo for a real PF. Someone like Camby, David Lee, or Jamison.

i think lewis should move back to sf at some point, you dont pay a guy $118mill and play him out of position for so long..hedo has looked like the 4th best player on this team most of the playoffs..sg, pf and the bench needs to be improved in the offseason

Hedo will be an expiring contract who can actually play well for a team...We could conceivably get alot back for him

Dude Hedo has been turning the ball over like none other...Also hes not really putting imposing his will during the games...Hes not making plays

I dunno about you guys but hes not someone i wanna pay 10+ for 5-6 years

If we had a solid distributor at PG, we wouldn't need Hedo. But we don't.

I'd trade Jameer and Hedo for a Raymond Felton and a younger Bruce Bowen easily.

Im sorry, but this topic is ridiculous...Hedo is as valuable as any other starter on the team, also its not necessary to get rid of him.......Plus if we get rid of him i promise you guys will be crying that we got rid of a guy that will do great for another team.

Also, since we will solve our power forward spot this offseason, Lewis will move to the 3 and Turk and Lewis will be one of the best 2-3 combo in the NBA.

THIS IS TURKS FIRST YEAR AS BEING THE FOCILE POINT OF THE OFFENSE, SO DONT GET ON HIS CASE. He is also the best defender on the team.

I've said it before, I'll say it now, and I will say it in the future:

I cringe at the concept of Hedo Turkoglu guarding the likes of Rip Hamilton.

You mean that player that stunk up the game with his 6-21 shooting. Who only showed up for one game in the Toronto series you mean that guy.
Hedo has done a very good job compared to that other guy.
Now it's too bad the Magic overpaid that other guy otherwise the best bet would be to trade him and keep Hedo.
Those other trades you propose make you sound like you live in the Twilight Zone.

So, through a series we're losing (at least at the moment) where Hedo isn't playing as well as he has been, you determine that this team doesn't need Hedo to win?
