REPLAYS IN THE NBA

Post#1 » by SevereMagic » Tue May 6, 2008 8:21 pm

Does anyone else think the NBA should implement a Replay system?

What happen last night in the end of the 3rd quarter should never happen, especially in a playoff game. Mistakes happen all the time with the refs in the NBA...

I think the NBA would benefit from the use of the replay. We've had the technology for years, what is taking so long?!?

Here is a link to an old article about the replay and how it works now:

http://espn.go.com/nba/preview2002/colu ... 51368.html

it's a long article, but the last paragraph is the most interesting:

" I'm sure that part of the reason replay was instituted this season was to ward off the perception that officials were blowing calls left and right, even if they weren't. The league is proactive when it comes to protecting its refs. There is some PR at work here. But I also believe there is a notion that if there is something extra that can be done to make sure the calls are correct, then that something extra should be used. Players have every means at their disposal to improve their performance. Why shouldn't the refs have the same thing? They're people, too, whether you want to believe it or not. "
