That's AWESOME news.
I knew he'd get it over Amare. Some people were saying it wouldn't happen.

It is deserved.

Will he be presented with any hardware on Saturday acknowledging this major achievement?

How come you guys are shocked?
I thought it would be a travesty if he DIDN'T get it.
Amare was his only real competition, and you can make way more of a case for Dwight.

Was really a no brainer in the end, more than deserved.

Because many of us thought writers would ride the hype Amare was getting after the Shaq trade (and he really did play great), even though it made no sense because Amare played his best basketball after that trade i.e. at PF. There was an ESPN columnist (Stein, I think) that published his ballot that way.
But it's great to hear they didn't fall for it.

Unless Raptor fans were the ones voting, Dwight had this won easily. I have no idea why you're shocked. Dwight and Amare's gap defensively is way too huge. Dwight was number 1 for centers when it came to opponent PER.

Boston players had kind of inflated opponent PER because of how great their defense as a whole is, but you should get some idea considering Amare is 3rd to last in the league and the two under him barely play.

Great news for Dwight! I figured he would get on the first team because of the MVP voting, Dwight did finish 5th and ahead of Stoudemire, so I figured it would work that way.

I wasn't shocked, yeah there was speculation about Amare, but Dwight beat him out in MVP voting to finish 5th there (nary a mention on this board about that btw), so I figured he would here too.
