Stern: Hack-A-Shaq, Replays To Be Reviewed

NBA commissioner David Stern said on Wednesday that the league plans to consider changing its rules on fouls away from the ball and the use of replays for game clock malfunctions, according to ESPN.com's J.A. Adande.
"I think there are two subjects that are going to get some attention by the competition committee. No. 1 is review on clock situations. And No. 2 is the whole intentional fouls away from the play etc. I don't know what the results will be in each one, but I think those are worthy of some considered attention," Stern said at the STAPLES Center before he presented Kobe Bryant with the league's MVP award.
Both issues have moved to the forefront during this year's playoffs.
The Spurs repeatedly used the 'Hack-a-Shaq' strategy during their first round series with the Suns, while Chauncey Billups was credited with a three-pointer at the end of the third quarter in Game Two against Orlando that should not have counted.

And maybe they could also look into the charging/blocking foul interpretations.

And maybe they can get rid of that stupid call about defense (somebody help me out here). One of things that is hurting Team USA is that they don't know how to play defense the same way because of that certain NBA rule which is not used in International play.

Heh.
Both of which hurt us late in Game 2.
Maybe next they'll put a restriction on free agents coming off their Rookie deals.

What about flopping ? That should be a big concern along with those two

While we're at it I think Technical Fouls should count as personal fouls. If someone get's a tech, it should be counted as one of their fouls. Right now they're almost free - just costs 1 free throw.
Obvious flopping - I'd give the referee the option to call a tech for flagrant flopping...

Man, in our local league in Oz, a tech foul counts as
two personal fouls, and you only get 5 fouls before you foul out...
Back in HS in a semi-final I mouthed off at a ref after being mugged on a drive, (she said there would be one warning for yabbering at refs and T's to follow if you ignored the warning) got T'd up without getting the warning and later fouled out and had to watch on as we lost in OT.
Pretty much never mouthed off at a ref since, now when I get put into the floor now I just bounce back up... if that hadve happened to Sheed when he was 17 maybe he would be different

I agree strongly. At the end of game two when the pistons came out of the time out,Chauncy and rip both flopped at the same time. It was obvious the game plan comming out was to flop. They knew they would get the call. THAT TEAM IS GIVIN WAY TO MUCH FREEDOM ON DEFENSE ALSO!! Dwight got the crap beat out of him in detroit. Yea he got his calls. The NBA is nice enough to at least give him a few calls in his favor. But its like 1 call for every 10 fouls. Is my observation wrong or does anyone agree with me??

anyway
1- flopping
2- traveling (lebron/wade would get 20% ppg less)
3- reffing (make 'em learn the rules FIRST, thanks)
