It became so apparent at the end of last game. If it wasnt for that last offensive rebound we missed out on, we still could of won that game

I'd love to get Landry for fran rights, but I think Houston would laugh at that... at least I thought they were pretty high on him because of his potential.

Some up and comers worth a look:

Justin Williams: good rebounder and solid 3rd stringer. Legal problems.

Elton Brown: Another good rebounder. Not NBA ready yet???

Michael Sweetney: Just on the bubble to be an NBA baller. Battles weight issues.

Sam Clancy: Undersized. Looks to be over the injury bug. Could be NBA ready now.

Marcus Haislip: Former first-round selection in the NBA. Has he finally moved to a serviceable player? Probably not.


The problem I have is that none of these guys is obviously better than Marcin Gortat nor Milovan Rakovic. And all are way below Battie and Foyle.

For the Magic to get better at the PF slot, only a trade looks to get it done (NBA starting front court players command quite a bit above the MLE).

Elton Brown is probably the most talented all around player not in the NBA today...

The more I think about this, the more I get stuck on the name "Charlie Villanueva."

The Bucks could make the playoffs next year, and Hedo would look great next to Redd. If Milwaukee threw in Ivey or Storey as a SnT guy to balance the salaries, this looks very logical to me.

Their guards drop 30+ easily and the problem is rebounding ? Okaaaay.

It's so obvious we need a capale SG who can do a bit of everything good enough. I hope we spend the MLE on a SG.

Personally I think that having Battie back would solve this problem. He would not start but I think Stan would have gone big in that last play just for the extra D and rebounding. But just for kickers I looked to see some free agents that could help and feasibly fit in with Dwight.

-Andris Biedrins: He is a garbage man, staying active and making plays. This kid has serious talent and I doubt he goes for the MLE.
-Nenad Krstic: Looked great before the surgery. After? Not so much.
-Kurt Thomas: Getting old, though for at least next year would be solid.
-Eduardo Najera: Energy guy.

Actually what you are missing is that the Pistons killed the Magic with second chance points off of all the rebounds the Magic didn't get.
That hurt the Magic more then the guard play by the Pistons. So yes the Magic are in need of a good PF who bang the boards with Dwight and be able to run the court with everyone. We all know that is not Battie.

Your argument is invalid, teams are going to get offensive boards, 2nd chance points, and throughout this series we got MORE offensive boards, 2nd chance points than Detroit but are still down 3-1. Detroit only got 2 more offensive boards in game 4, that happens every game. How about game 3 were we won 111 to 87 or something, big blowout right ? Detroit also had 2 more offensive boards same as Game 4.

There are a lot of details that can explain the losses. For example, when Detroit has more assists than us, we lose. When we have more assists than Detroit, we win. When there's a lot of ball movement to find the open man, thus creating good looks for eachother, and do it consistently, we win. When we stop doing that, we experience those long periods where we can't score a bucket cause some of our players force shots and plays, don't stick to the ball movement that got them the lead.

Rebounding so far, especially against one of the greater rebounding teams in the league, has been pretty equal. And that's positive. You can't outrebounds Detroit like that, we didn't get outrebounded either.

We lost because of our inability to control their guards during the final moments of the game, period.

I was watching the games and remember the annoucers mentioning that second chance points killed the Magic.
For the reason I see Robin Lopez as a player that the Magic need to look at.
The Magic already have enough sg's to fill the slot and don't need another one.
Drafting another one is just ................, but with the large numbers of PF's in this draft who can help the Magic right away it doesn't make sense to not pick up a much needed PF/C.

For all the PF group .... please let me know whether you really believe that that PF would have been in, in that last few minutes of the game. Who would we have sat to make room for that PF. Hedo's scoring is why we got back in the game, Rashard is why Hedo has a lane to drive. Do you move Hedo to the SG so Rip can run past him like he's standing still? This post was not intended to sound sarcastic so please do not take it that way. I am really open to hearing some input as to their point of view.

I am seeing more and more the only option is to upgrade the SG. That will not effect the chemistry we have. The only other option (which has no chance in hell) is to trade Lewis for a Rasheed/West/Okur/Z type player.

Lewis is better than all those guys, and a better fit on this team. So no thanks. Edit: David West is the only guy I'd really consider, he is younger and playing really strong this year, and has been for a while. The other guys are just too old.

Hedo can not chase Rip off screens. That would be a complete mismatch.

Opinions differ on that - I for one don't think that Hedo has the foot speed to keep up with Rip for very long.

Having Battie would help with the blocking out, but he's not much of a shot blocker, so we'd have to make sure he was on the weak side. He and Dwight would have switch up if any crossed through the lane - play a zone effectively in the paint.

Dooling was sitting because of fouling out. So we'd have:

Hedo
Evans?
Lewis
Battie
Dwight

At the 3, Rip is a pretty good rebounder, so I'm not sure rebounding-wise things would work out very well at the SF spot for us.

I was just throwing out names (specifically Okur and Z we would need other consideration) but if you put Lewis on Detroit and Rasheed on the MAGIC ... we win the series 4-1 and the one loss was because we played the bench the whole game in game 4 to give the starters the day off.

There are a handful of guards in Europe who should get this titles. But, I do like Brown.

I think Battie is the rebounder this team needs.
