Would it have been better to get the fourth seed?

Post#1 » by thefranchise2k5 » Wed May 14, 2008 1:19 am

I've been saying this along with a lot of posters on this board, that the Magic don't matchup well against the Pistons at all. I really wished we could play the Celtics in the 2nd round instead. Do you guys think it would have been a better season if we had less wins and played the Celtics in the 2nd round or is better to get as many wins as possible like we did and end up playing the Pistons.

Personally, it doesn't matter to me because we'd have to play the Pistons eventually most likely whether in the 2nd or 3rd round.

Refs want Celtics/Pistons, so it wouldn't have much mattered.

We do match up better with the C's though.

No, because then we wouldn't get to "challenge" the Pistons like so many people here wanted.

Sigh.

Na, the Magic needed this series to show Otis exactly what this team is made off.

BINGO

Orlando is the only team without a big story in the east, so of course they are the only team to lose 4-1

Cavs have the king
Pistons have the rep and have been there for 6 years straight
Celtics have the best record and tradition

Orlando?

The Pistons are the only team in the EC that can give us any trouble. But we have to learn how to beat them. Last year they walked over us. This year they had to fight hard. Next year we walk over them. Get this straight. With all his honors, Dwight is still a baby in this league. He will grow up. Just think how good he will be if he improves as much next year as he did this. Just think how good he will be if he improves half as much next year as he did this.

Detroit shot 36% and didn't have Chauncey Billups. Orlando wouldn't have beaten anyone the way they played.

The Magic would've swept the Celtics, Cavs, Lakers, Hornets, Spurs or Jazz. They might've lost 1 to the Rockets, since they were hot, but Detroit is the only team that can beat them in a 7 game series.

No, it was better to get home-court in the first round; and the highest seed possible.
We got our first playoff win against the pistons in forever and we'll have to learn to go through them at some stage. For what it's worth, I don't think we are that far off. Yes, we turned the ball over far too much this series - that's been a problem all year. So, we need to get that under control and give Dwight some support up front. Maybe get a real backcourt.

This is blatantly false. We played our way out of every game that we lost. We had realistic shots at 3 of the 4. The Pistons revealed us as an extremely inexperienced team without a go-to option and without composure in the clutch. Any way that you look at it, we have a long way to go.

The Magic where 0-3 in close games. That's Orlando's own fault, and is a coaching failure as well.
