What did you guys think of Detroit Piston's rookie Rodney Stuckey? Do you think he has the makings of a very good PG/SG? As a Pistons fan I'm hoping he develops into a 3rd guard role that will allow either Billups or Rip extended rest time.

And another question:

Basically the Magic gave up the 15th pick (which was used on Stuckey) for Darko Milicic.

If you could have either Darko or Stuckey, which would you guys pick right now.

Legit cases could be made for either player. Darko would help out Dwight with added size inside and Stuckey would eliminate Mo Evans as a starter. Mo
shot the ball well but he can't defend at an NBA level. Which of these two guys would have more value on your team?

I know it's probably a bad time to ask, right after a loss, but I figured alot of you guys would be clearing out of the forum over the next few days and I was just curious.

Stuckey looks good. I'm not sure that he's the next Chauncey, like the TNT guys were saying, but he looks like a fringe starter already and he still has a lot of room to grow.

Darko helped us at the time that we had him. That his agent made unreasonable demands could not be foreseen at the time.

We'd rather have had Ben Wallace had we known that Hill would be injured his whole contract. We'd rather have Amare Stoudemire had we known that the Suns could pick him with the pick we traded. I'm sure the Suns would rather have Luol Deng and Rajon Rondo if they had a do-over on trading those picks.

Hindsight is 20-20.

No, honestly, he doesn't. He gets to the rim, but other than that, he looked completely worthless. Maybe he was somewhat effective, because he was going up against our guards, but he definitely doesn't have the makings of a very good PG/SG.

I don't like Melo, he's a punk. We have Prince anyways. I don't think Bosh is good enough inside. As Magic fans know, Bosh is SOFT. Having a Trio of Wade, Billups and Rip sounds pretty damn enticing though.

This is just a hypothetical. I just wondered if you guys felt your biggest needs are at PF or SG. Both are glaring weaknesses that the Pistons exploited. I wasn't trying to stir anything up.

He reminds me of Jameer Nelson...just with someone he can actually learn from.

Stuckey has half a foot on Jameer Nelson

He reminds me a bit of Spurs-era Antonio Daniels. Not a star by any means, but an NBA calibre player.

He shot 5/6 Free throws tonight, with 6 asts and ZERO turnovers as a starting PG. His jumper is improving but he can get to the FT line and he's 27/28 from their in the PLAYOFFS this season. As you know, shooting FTS is a valuable skill in the playoffs.

He's 6'5 and will go into the paint. That's an under-rated ability IMO, too many guys want to just fire up jumpers, getting inside for layups and FTS can jumpstart your team.

I think he's pretty decent for a rookie.

I think he will be a very good backup, but I have a hard time seeing him develop into a very good starter.

Whatever happened to Daniels? I remember him having a few very good years, but he just kinda faded away. He was very good at getting to the rim, but I remember Daniels as being a DECENT outside shooter. I'm not sure if Stuckey will develop that or if he will be more of a slasher/creator.

Nah, Daniels was never a shooter. Always more of a slasher/playmaker. Good asst/to guy. He never earned that draft position, but he (like Billups) was taken early on size and potential.

He starts for the Wiz now, when healthy.

Started for the Wizards all season with Arenas out.

Stuckey is good because he contributes. Darko doesn't.

Darko's basically trash.

Stuckey is a star in the making.

I touted him on the Pistons board when he got drafted. He can be better than Billups.

Yep, I had to face the music. I held out hope for Darko for way too long, the guy just won't become the player I thought he would. He's good enough to be on an NBA roster and maybe even be a starter, but he can't be much more. The kid has MUSH between the ears.

As a Pistons fan, we've had very few rookies to really get excited about. We've had a veteran team mostly and rookies that are drafted here, usually don't amount to much. Our last great draft pick that we got to watch develop into a very good player was Tayshaun Prince. Other than that, it's been slim pickins. I would like to have an exciting rookie to root for. Hopefully Stuckey can be that guy.

Lord help us all if the Magic ever trade for Stuckey then...
