Would McCants help?

Post#1 » by 101man » Sun May 18, 2008 9:10 pm

Chad Ford lists OJ Mayo as the #3 prospect in the draft; T-Wolves have best odds at a #3 pick and no doubt will pick somewhere around there. If Mayo goes to the T-Wolves it could make McCants less of a factor there. He's a 2-guard that plays decent defense and can hit the 3 (he set a franchise record for 3's this season.) McCants also was the leagues 2nd highest scorer off the bench (behind Ginobli.) Anyone's thoughts?

I like it. With Brewer, Foye, McCants, and now either Mayo or Bayless.....someone has got to go. Maybe Bogans + Cash for McCants wouldn't be a bad move....

i've always liked mccants.

thought he'd make a much better NBA prospect than a certain dukie we ended up blowing a lottery pick on.

I don't like him much. Granted I don't see him much. But it seems like he can just score and play as good defense as Bogans. He's not that taller SG we like either. An inch shorter than the Mogans duo.

Kid has his clutch moments so he wouldn't be a bad option. Would definitely take him over Pietrus.

Great, another undersized SG who can't defend Rip. Just what we need.

Pass. JJ is the better prospect still, and there are better prospects out there in this years draft.

Sure you will always find scrubs & failures in every program(when I was in Chapel Hill ... I though Forte would be a great... at least good one) however I think that UNC is the best program when it comes to producing NBA players. I don't think any other program comes close... then again I might be biased

To be honest, I wouldn't see the point in going after McCants with JJ on the roster. 14.9, 2.7 and 2.2 on a bad team when he has license to shoot as and when he wants to is hardly convincing. Given the minutes and the green light, I think JJ would be just as productive. And much like Redick, he's undersized (although admittedly more athletic), and not a particularly good defender.

I'd like to see us upgrade at the 2, not duplicate what we already have.

I was going to include him as well as Jeff Mcinnis...but Jeff didnt do that bad early on, a let down but was decent and May has been injured so I gave him the benefit...but yea...

Mccants is an interesting idea, but if i had to pick someone on the wolves roster who could help us, it'd be Marko Jaric. Big shooting guard who can play some point, hit the three and can defend. If i had to choose, it'd be him....sorry
