JJ Redick posted that he never said what Brian put in his article here is quote from Redick's website:

I guess a lot was made of an article written by Brian Schmitz of the Orlando Sentinel. The headline read:

Welcome on board the "Schmitz is an idiot" bandwagon, JJ. Take any seat you want, but I have a pretty well-developed ass groove in my seat, so God help you if you pick that one.

Brian Schmitz = A man true to his intials. Alas we already knew as much...welcome to Orlando JJ.

Very interesting (to me at least). I don't think his request was out of line, but he's now saying he didn't even say that.

It makes me wonder if Otis really is telling JJ that he'll have the chance to back up the 2 next year.

I was once told by a reporter (after asking about a misleading headline) that the reporter doesn't make the headline, that's done by editors with the goal of drawing attention. I don't know if that's the policy at OS, but since Schmitz never said anything of the kind in his article, I just assumed it was. Note that JJ complains about the "media," not Schmitz, so cougar's headline was also misleading.

RealGM often makes up headlines more sensational than was used in the newspapers. Thus Jameer was chewed out for "guaranteeing" a victory (headline) when he said (~), "we will make adjustments and win this game," nothing more than a statement of encouragement to his teammates and the fans.

i was at the Millenia Mall two days ago and i saw JJ. he was in the book store looking for ways to commit suicide. he's got a tough life, we should really lay off the guy.

nah but i did actually see him there but he was just walking around by himself on the phone, no one even recognized him. sad but true.

The thing I like most about his blog is that he has spoken with Otis and Stan about his role with the team and now knows he will be here for training camp. He obviously liked what he heard from the two of them and probably will get his first legitimate shot at playtime. He just has to stay injury free.

JJ will get playing time the minute we upgrade the point and Dwight learns how to stay with a pick/screen. As mediocre as our second team was you could see the Rip Hamilton style of play in JJ with Arroyo at the PG and JJ running off screens set by (I am going to hate myself for this but....) "Air" Pat.

JJ needs desparately needs to get to Utah to play for Sloan with Boozer and Williams.

Idunkonyou2 in the Dooling thread wrote:As far as SG goes, I expect the Magic to keep JJ, Bogans will be back as well and they will most like sign a SG for the MLE, unless they trade Hedo for one.

So, in your opinion, JJ will be starting over a MLE or Hedo trade return player?

It all depends. If the Magic trade Hedo for a higher pick and we some how land a SG that way, I would expect JJ to start over him, unless we get say OJ Mayo and then maybe not. If we get a guy like Maggette for the MLE, he will come off the bench. There are a lot of possibilities. Another one would be if Evans is re-signed, but from the looks of things, he won't be unless he comes back cheap.

I think JJ is in the long term plans of the Magic and I think depending on the circumstances, he could be the Magic starter next year or at least the #2 backup. We will have to see where Otis goes. At least he has the options, but I would say our biggest needs in the offseason is to get bigger at the guard spots and get a legit starting PF.

We have to see what this guy's got. I'm sure we all agree that we want to see for ourselves what JJ can do as a starter, or heck, the first SG off the bench.

If he sucks worse than Mo and Bogans, us JJ believers will agree with the naysayers. But if he succeeds, we all win.

If he sucks worse than Mo and Bogans, then the Magic won't make the playoffs next season, and everyone on this board will be calling for everybody's head. We all lose.

Last pre pre-season, Redick proved he could dominate rookies and D-leaguers. That has to create a scout evaluation of NBA-baller.

That Redick is at least a sub means that his last year was disappointing. He probably expected to be the first SG off of the bench. Especially when Ariza did not start as strong as expected. And when the Magic traded for Evans, that had to be a heart breaker.

What seems clear is that dominating the Pepsi Pro league is not a Magic path towards minutes. It failed for Diener. Failed for Gortat. And it failed for Redick.

Redick didn't fail because he didn't play the real failure is not seeing how he can play period.
