Mo's Defense

Post#1 » by Black Sheep » Sun May 25, 2008 4:56 am

I seen Mo has been working out for the Magic. He can shoot, slash and is very athletic. But how has his defense been? Man to man, team defense etc:?

Mo locks down below average to average offensive players and gets beat up by above average offensive players.

Mo is solid on the defensive end.

But that's it.

Yeah he's okay, he hustles and stuff but he isn't the best defender. Lets his guy run past him a lot

I think Mo is just an above average defender. We really could use a defensive stopper somewhere in our backcourt.

He's better than Bogans who can make JJ look like a defensive force sometimes.

mo is an alright defender, but not good enough to be the long term answer playing beside nelson in the backcourt

Not long enough to contest with taller guards, lack lateral quickness to stay with smaller guards. He just hustles a lot, that's about it really

His help defense is better than his man defense. He can block some shots from the weak side. He's got a good motor and can hustle though. He transitions nicely from defense to offense and can run the fast break, but his foot work is poor and has a tough time keeping his man in front of him. Still way ahead of Bogans and JJ, but that isn't saying much. He'd make a good sixth man and can play some sf too, but I don't want him as our starter anymore.

Can't say I ever remember him blocking a shot this past year. He is just not creative enough on the defensive end. He doesn't rebound or create turnovers. Just a hustler really. There is not much difference between his D and what Bogans offers, and if one stays, than the other needs to go.
