Chad Ford Strikes Again...

Post#1 » by LBPTarHeel27 » Tue May 27, 2008 10:07 pm

He has us taking Bill Walker in his new mock draft.
http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/draft2008/columns/story?columnist=ford_chad&page=MockDraft-080527

The skinny: The Magic need another swingman, preferably one who can shoot the ball. Shooting isn't Walker's forte, but his athleticism and scoring instincts would give the Magic another big weapon. A year and a half ago, teams were talking about him as a top-5 pick, but an ACL injury stopped that talk. However, I saw him in Chicago recently and his weight is finally down and his explosiveness is back.

Huh?

If you check this topic you will find more about this and what other mock drafts are saying:

I'd rather draft Hibbert or CDR. Besides just potential, I don't see anything that shows in his two years at college he'll be something great. At least Hibbert was a shot blocker in college.

Well technically speaking this isn't about the draft. It is about how much of a moron Chad Ford is...and how an unborn child could do his job.

Bill Walker would be a fine pick. He has a ton of upside and if he adds a jumper he could be an elite scorer.

Walker is 6'6'' and very athletic. He would have zero problems playing SG in the NBA.

So basically he's just a shorter Trevor Ariza?

Yeh they said the same thing about Jeryle Sasser and Steven Hunter. the Magic need to stop drafting potential.

^^^Ding Ding Ding.

We need big man help and I refuse to say this club should depend on fran coming over eventually. Draft Hibbert... He's a 7 footer who can clean up around the glass and can block shots. Dwight needs a back up and this guy would be great.

We are not an up & coming team anymore...we don't need to be going after players who might turn out to be something.

Assuming we make moves that at least make sense to get us where we were at the end of this season...we are now CONTENDERS.

We aren't looking for a player who is going to be superstar. We are looking for a role player that can help us win a championship.

When you draft a role player, you look for a guy who has at least one part of his game that he dominates. A lock down defender...even if he can't shoot at all. A true PG, even if they can't score.

We need to draft a player who is NBA ready and can contribute in some way where we are weak.

Areas We Need Help:
-Defensive PG
-Defensive SG
-Tough PF
-Passing PG

Walker is a big time offensive talent. He is nothing like Trevor Ariza.

Does anyone know if Jonathan Wallace from GU is going to be in the draft?

Man, I wish we could get DeAndre Jordan. He looks to be like a Howard clone (in terms of height and athleticism).

those two were never ever projected top 5 picks at one times, and they were called reaches at the time. Those were just awful draft picks.

Also, lets look at a fairly recent draft pick that was based 100% potential.

His name is Dwight Howard. He turned out pretty good.

Someone the magic the drafted off of 0 potential and all skill the magic drafted pretty recently is named JJ Redick. That was a great pick.
