HOOPSWORLD

Getting eliminated by the Detroit Pistons for the second straight year has given the Orlando Magic's players a little more to think about this summer. They've come a long way in a very short period of time, but they still have a long way to go before they become a championship caliber team.

However, the Magic have enjoyed a great season despite the 4-to-1 loss to Detroit.

Keep in mind that at the end of the season there can only be one champion. As much as Dwight Howard liked to talk about winning the title this year we all knew that it was a long shot

I mean if you told me before the year that Orlando would be 22 games above .500 and easily advanced to the 2nd round I would've been pretty surprised. This is a young team on the rise that is just a decent SG and dependable PF away. Battie can really help bridge that gap up front and hopefully the Magic can snag a SG with the MLE.

This was a good year.

However, the bar has been set.

Anything less than a Conference Finals next year will be a disappointment.

How Smith and Co. do this is their problem.

A long way off from a championship? There were two better teams in the east and 4 better teams out west, so I guess he has a point. Like Craig said it will be on Otis and Co. to get us over the hump. Should be a fun ride...
