I LOVE JAMEER......BUT

would you guys consider trading him for someone like andre miller?

I think we need someone more experienced that can find dwight a little better and more often on offense. I think jameer's gonna be a star but to make dwight a superstar, a smart and experienced pg might go a long way. Package something for miller and evans.....

hmm...Yes...it would suck to loose Jameer and split up him and D12 but I think of all places he would like to play in Philly..

Hmm, I think the immediate impact of getting Miller might out weigh the long term impact of losing Nelson. However, I think Otis should spend his efforts upgrading other spots on the roster. Also, my mother always told me I shouldn't sacrifice the future for today, so I stay with Nelson.

I don't think Jameer will be going anywhere guys, the negative Jameer stuff just needs to be squashed now. The guy proved he belonged here in the post season, when he was out of the games the Magic looked lost as hell, then again with Arroyo that's pretty easy. Dooling is more of a defender, thats why Hedo is so damned valueable. I say we stick with Nelson, he made strides this year, and I think he'll be better again next season.

I agree, like it or not we are stuck with Nelson. IMO that's not the worst thing ever... We could still have Tyronne Lue! :crazy:

It's not hating on Jameer....it's getting the right pieces around the right player. Dwight's our guy. And I think his development is most important. I happy with Jameer on our team. But at what sacrifice? Like I said, Jameer's going to be a star somewhere in the nba. But will his game mesh well with Howards? Right now howard is getting point off rebounds and fast breaks with the occassional spin move...I think he'll develop into a great offensive player if he has a pg that's getting him the ball at the right times.

Not saying that Jameer can't be upgraded but:

Will a new PG prevent Dwight from losing it from double teams?
Will a new PG prevent Dwight from not getting good post position?

Point being is - from my viewpoint - that Jameer is hardly holding Dwight back. Our offense goes away from Dwight because (A) he's turning it over or (B) he's missing too many FTs.

Jameer in the post season really stepped up his game - being able to play both roles: a distributor and a scorer. I don't see him holding up Dwight in the future either.

Another point we have more pressing needs to be addressed.

If Hedo stays (and I'm sure he will), then Nelson is fine at PG. Just find a better 2G combination than the current one.

If Hedo leaves, the Magic will need a play maker, to which Nelson is unsuited for.

Nelson could be a career 6th man candidate and the best backup pg in the league. Its just that his ego wont accept that he lacks the physical size and intangibles to be a starting pg on a championship caliber nba team.

Its pretty obvious that this team would be so much better with a true pg who could also play better Defence. Turkoglu is out best passer for crying out loud!!

I hope Otis Smith swallows his pride and accepts that we wont succeed long term without a better point guard running the show. I think we should take a risk on Shaun Livingston of the clippers. If he stays healthy (yes its a gamble) he is a penny lite. Perhaps we can package a sign and trade deal to land both he and maggette of the clippers?

As you all know by now, I love taller pgs who can guard the Billups. However, Jameer was truly a different player in the post season and made this decision much more difficult. His Tos were low, he scored and found our players on the perimeter. Thats what you want from your pgs. We didnt see Billups shoot 3s over him because he simply didnt play. We still lost. Our loss didnt come from the superior pg from the other team. it came from their 2, 3 and 4 guards. We couldnt keep Prince and Rip in front of us and their scoring average was the highest.

Jameer is going to be a BYC player this year so the Magic will have a difficult time trying to move him this year.

Maybe if the team makes a play for a guy like Beno Udrih (A bigger PG that is an Unrestricted FA that could be had) then the Magic could move Jameer to the back-up spot. Otherwise I don't see how the Magic bring in a PG that is better than Jameer without trading a key piece of the team.

So you enjoyed the misery of six seasons of Grant Hill injuries and are willing to live through it long term again for a lplayer who has done a lot less to prove he's worth the risk, huh?

I'd offer Livingston 2 or 3 years at the MLE, which is far different then the 7 years at max that Grant Hill had. 2-3 years I think would be worth the risk, if he pans out great for us, if he doesn't then we can easily just let him walk after the contract is up. I'd prefer to get a SG with the MLE, but I wouldn't really be opposed to offering it to Livingston if the SG falls through(or doing a S&T deal for Livingston).
