I know this much: I'd be hella scared to have Hillary by my side, in fact I'd trade her to McCain just for kicks :)

I don't want to turn this into a serious political debate and I will probably get killed for this but those of you who are planning to vote for Obama should check out this link.

Not saying I agree with all of it and yeah it's really long but its worth taking a look at.

I am sorry, but you all really need to take a look at what He wants to do.
His policies are all Socialist policies. That is not what this country is. That is not what we are. He will try the same failed policies that J. Carter tried.
When you have Him as the president and the Dems are talking about taking profits from the oil companies. How is that any differant then Chevez? No if Obama wins, the Republican will be looking pretty good in 2 years. Jimmy Carter gave us a Regan, who will Obama give us?
No the Democrats said ,vote us in and we will bring change. So we did 2 years ago. They control the House and Senate. So what has changed? All the things that we blame on the President, gas prices, unemployment, etc are not His fault. He does not make the laws. The congress and senate do.
So lets quit blaming everything on Him and look to the places that have really caused the problems...the house and the senate. And remember who controlls them? And you all really want a socialist president?

savagepolitics.com, huh? the republican noise machine makes it's way to realgm.

hooray!

you just gotta love election years...

first of all, where is the evidence that barack obama even made any of these claims?

i'll concede that some of these sound familiar, but without any sources for where the claims came from, it's impossible to know what words he actually said and what words are being put in his mouth.

the whole page just says he's claimed one thing or another than goes about calling him a liar by providing links to transparently anti-obama sites or right-wing blogs and forums, like freerepublic.com and townhall, as it's primary sources.

beyond that, a lot of this stuff is just outright ridiculous.

i mean, the "barack obama is not african-american according to US law, he's arab-american" line was about as far as i could go.

there are US laws dictating who is and isn't african-american now? and, holy crap, look at the sources they cite for that.

i don't want to turn this into a serious political debate and i will probably get killed for this, but why are right-wingers so intellectually dishonest?

Savage Politics is one of the most ridiculous pieces of blog trash on the 'net, and any credibility you hoped to gain in this conversation has gone out the window.

The only decent, unbiased polticial site that invesitgates claims by ALL candidates is http://www.factcheck.org/. Most other sites are just convservative or liberal spin sites.

some of the things i like about obama:
* 4,000 tuition credit to all students who commit a certain # of community service hours
* end the control of lobbyists controlling our senate
*wants to get out of iraq by the end of 2009 (shouldve never been there in the first place, WMD?!?! just a fallacy to go into iraq for oil)..focus on bin laden
* tax buildings that use enormous amounts of energy and emit CO2
* make healthcare alot cheaper
* become energy independent from Iran
* work with Al Gore to become a greener United States(he'll prob get a position in his cabinet)
* put money into our education system (rather than the war in iraq)
* fix social security for when my generation is older
* make college for teachers free
* stop bush tax cuts to the wealthy (when they didnt even ask for it)
*tax oil companies and put the money back into gov
*stop putting trillions of debt on our "credit card" and get back to surplusing (last time that happened was when Bill was in office)

hoooray i cant wait for change from republican rule

What laws have the House and Senate passed that caused oil prices and unemployment to skyrocket?

but why are right-wingers so intellectually dishonest?

Lol...wow! Right wing...Left wing...it doesn't matter. Both extremes are very dishonest in most cases and the truth is subjective in their eyes at best. Most of the political leaders are more interested in raising money and/or staying in office that they have all but abandoned their morality and will say just about anything to accomplish that objective. The mouthpieces in the media on both sides have one interest and one interest only...RATINGS! Their objective is to create controversy and drama. If we all did get along then things like the news, talk shows and the political blogosphere would be pretty boring and nobody would be interested. In both cases with both parties its all about money now. Anyone who happens to have true intentions or a true agenda to help our country are quickly silenced and pretty much excommunicated from their party, their contributors and thus their financing.

To all, don't be so quick to make your assumptions and don't be so eager to attack others based on misconceptions or preconceptions. Also please keep in mind that the truth is usually found somewhere in the middle.

Well, until one of his lies causes an American Death, I dont see the point in all of that.

He is pandering to an audience. In other words being a Politician.

Thats just like Hillary's sniper fire comments.

It makes little difference in the long run.

I'll vote for who I think can do the best job. Quite frankly, I don't think McCain will do much better than Bush has, it's hard to do worse, but he wouldn't be much better IMO. His economic understanding is a joke, and it seems there isn't a day that goes by when he doesn't make a serious gaffe about the situation in Iraq. 8 years ago he was a maverick who pissed off his own party, now he's aligned with Bush and is pretty much going to say and do whatever the Republicans ask him to do.

Some of Obama's extremes concern me, sure. But that's why we have a system of checks and balances, to make sure those radical ideas don't get too far if they're really that bad. At the same time though, I think we need a President that can bring us together, and repair our image around the world.

And while I'm not sure Obama is better suited to manage our wars, it does speak volumes that he opposed it from the start. And just because McCain is a war hero (because of his POW years, his actual service wasn't that remarkable from what I've read), doesn't make him best suited to manage a war (don't mistake this for disrespect, I respect McCain highly for his service and his bravery). A great analogy would be just because Michael Jordan is the GOAT, doesn't mean he'd make a great coach.
