OT: Tim Russert Dead at 58

Tim Russert, who became one of America's leading political journalists as the host of NBC's "Meet the Press," died Friday, according to the network. He was 58.

Tim Russert joined NBC in 1984 and established himself as the face of the network's political coverage.
The network said Russert suffered a heart attack while at work and could not be revived. He had just returned from a family vacation in Italy to celebrate the graduation of his son, Luke, from Boston College.

It's really sad. He was such a hard worker. I think he worked himself too hard and then took a vacation and it caught up to him. He was such a loving family man and he got to see his son graduate from college at least. He was also a passionate Buffalo Bills fan and a great man of the Buffalo community.
This sounds really bad but last week I made a very dark joke saying "Well Big Brown may have lost, but I had money on Jim McKay dying so I made out okay. My money is on Tim Russert dying next." No joke, I was just playing around, I love Tim Russert and the work he does and it had no real basis, just the first name that came to my mind.
I guess im a prophet of bad news.

Its an unbelievably huge loss. I always looked forward to watching him moderate Meet the Press every Sunday morning. He was hard, but fair. Given our 24hr network news these days, he really stood out. We are slowly loosing great reporters and being replaced by ignorant, opinionated, talking heads. Ted Koppel was another favorite of mine on Nightline before he left, now its so soft a fluffy. I'm literally down to John Stewart on Comedy Central, C-Span, and a little bit of Bill Moyers on PBS, and thats about it. The rest is real garbage anymore. Its a sad sad day.

RIP. Russert was definately one of the good ones at doing his job well.
