Why not Azubuike?

He showed a lot of potential when Stephen Jackson was out early in the year... I think he was averaging like 13 and 6 as a starter and shooting like 40% from 3, he made very little money last year and doubt he will be demanding too much money.

Cuz he's not much better than Bogans.

Ya, but last year Azubuike shot 71.7% from the line

atleast Bogans shot 73.6% from the line

We already have enough bad f/t shooters

Don't get me wrong. . .I hate bogans just as much as the next guy

I agree. Sadly, I don't think the Magic will go after him though.

Im pretty sure we could get him for less than the MLE... i think the guy was making under a mil. last year... maybe give him half and then give Duhon the rest...

for the MLE you would really be getting your moneys worth by signing those two guys. Who are two key bench contributers. We must get deeper at all positions...why not split the MLE on two solid ,prototypical defensive and athletic guys.

I really like him, i think he could be a great role player, but i dont know if he will be a solid NBA starter, where as i do believe CDR and Rush could be. I wouldnt mind picking him up though (not for the MLE though we could get him for less than that)

i really think he could be the answer at SG... maybe sign and trade him for Bogans expiring contract. Buike really reminds me of a more talented Evans with a lot more potential.

Nice 3-pt shooter. An improving rebounder. Lowered his TOs.

If Azubuike is like Bogans now, don't forget that he's almost four years younger.

Kelenna is a baller and should have a nice journeyman career in the NBA.

I'm British so I'd love Azubuike in a Magic uni.

The answer at SG? I disagree.

Yea, Azu ain't better than Bogans and/or Evans, his skillset is similiar, but he's rarely a legit starter in the NBA, he's had a few good games but also some stinkers with GoldenState, for that position I'd look at a much more proven scorer.

Really? cause you could argue the main reason he didn't play that much was because he was on a very blessed team guard wise. He's definitely just as good as Bogans and Evans and he's only 24. He's athletic he can hit the three and I'm not sure about his defense I would have to ask a GS fan. If he is good on D though the Magic would be foolish not to pay this guy about 3 million to come on board. He's a lot better than that nonathletic bum JJ, and has a much brighter future than Bogans and his twin Evans. This team needs young players with a good future. We need some young guys who can develop and mix them in with veterans who can help teach them the game on our bench.

:nonono: Im not sure if some of you are just posting based on stats or what but i dont understand how you compare Bogans to Azubuike... I have NBA league pass and i watch many many warrior games because they are so exciting and from watching a lot of this guys game i dont understand how people could make the comparison to Bogans. Bogans has almost 0 athletic ability. He cant make layups, cant dunk, and almost never attacks the basket. Azubuike attacks the basket, is very athletic, and could MAKE layups and dunks! I dont understand why would wouldnt wanna sign someone who is an upgrade to our current players and someone who we could probably sign for half the MLE or by trading J.J. or Bogans (expiring).

I just spent some time browsing the GS board. Some things that I gathered:

-- Most of them seem to think that both Buike and Pietrus could be had for around $3m each.

-- Neither is a very good ball handler or passer.

-- GS fans seem to like Buike slightly more than Pietrus.

-- Both are seen as career backups.

-- Both are seen by most GS posters as already being as good as they're going to be (though there seems to be some dispute on this).

DMann, I'd be interested to see how this squares with what you've seen.

Personally, I'm still hoping for Childress.

I would agree with most of that. One part i dont agree with is that he is as good as he is going to be. He tore up the D league if i remember right 2 years ago and last year was his first full NBA season i believe, so the thought that he isnt going to get better is wrong IMO. Also like you i really like Chill, i just dont see the Hawks letting him walk, and even if they did i think he would cost around the full MLE whereas Azubuike could probably be signed for a contract for half the MLE which give up more room to add other free agents. The thing im worried about is i dont know how much better our lineup this year is going to be compared to last year... Seems like we are gonna have a bunch of just ok players and thats scares me because i also think a lot of other teams in the east will be greatly improved...

Nelson/Duhon or jWill
Azubuike or Chilldress/Bogans/Redick
Hedo/Azubuike or Childress
Lewi$/Battie/Cook
Howard/Gortat

I just dont know if thats much of an improvement over last year. IMO we still need to move Lewi$ to SF and get a true PF before we will contend for a championship. If that means trading Hedo... as much as i would absolutely HATE to do that, i think it is needed to be a legit championship contender.
