I was watching ESPN's coverage this morning at the Finals. They were talking about the Celtics repeating next year. J. Barry and Michael Wilbon were naming the top Eastern Conference teams that have a chance to compete next year. They started with Detroit. Then went to the Cavs. Then Washington. Then Philly....Then Orlando. How the hell do the Magic get named right after or even with Philly. Rediculous. We advance to the second round, play Detroit tough all series, lead the East in scoring, have the best big man in the game, have the M.I.P this year...and we still get no respect. I forgot to mention THE MAGIC finished with the third best record in the East. I understand that we are not yet up to par with the Celts...but I feel that we are closing in on the Pistons and we are mos def the 3rd best team in the conference.
Not much else happening so I just wanted to vent a little with my fellow Magic fans.

Does any Magic fan want Orlando to have a target on their jersey? The Magic were road warriors simply because other teams did not take Orlando seriously. GM Smith And Coach StM would be happy if next year is just like this year; with more home wins.

Until we repeatedly make the second round or back to back ECF or the finals themselves we haven't done anything to earn respect other then barely manage to not get swept by Detriot AGAIN.

Re: Still No Respect
I could understand mentioning us after Detroit and Cleveland. But Washington and Philly? Are they nuts? Washington does not even know if they will have Arenas and Jamison both back and Philly is a very young team who finished 7th in the East while the Magic finished 3rd. That is ridiculous.

Re: Still No Respect
The topic was if the Celtics could be back to back ECF winners. They weren't listing - as far as I could tell - teams in any order.
They mentioned that Detroit & Wash were teams that were in state of change, so they weren't sure if they would challenge the Cs. The LeBrons needed more players.
IMO, Philly & Orlando were just categorized together - good players but not at the level of the Cs, and both had bright futures. I don't think they were say the teams were at the same level.
They said, not in so many words, that Chicago is a mess and that Heat were in complete rebuilding mode.
I think they completely left out Indy, Toronto, NYK, NJN and several other eastern teams from the list.
Had we somehow beaten the Pistons, we'd have been completely smothered by the Cs defense.
They gave us more respect than many other East teams. They just listed teams that have been in the hunt longer than us first.

On Mike and Mike, Mike named Orlando as his favorite team not named Boston to come out of the East. For whatever that is worth

Re: Still No Respect
It's all good I believe the Magic will get the 2nd seed in the East, but ESPN is going to hype certain teams. For ESPN, the Celtics obviously have to be the favorite in the east, with Detroit being second (even though I think they will be in a rebuilding mode), then the Cavaliers because they made it to the finals and have someone named LeBron, then the Wizards because they have been in the play-offs for like the past 4 years in a row, then Philly because they are young and exciting and have a lot of cap space so they will sign a free agent, and finally comes the boring Magic!

Re: Still No Respect
Keep that lack of respect coming. It's another motivating factor for the players. Can't hurt to play with more of a chip on their shoulders, with more desire to prove people wrong.

Re: Still No Respect
We need to be careful next year - while I think the East might be slightly weaker due to just pure ammounts of rebuilding from top to bottom - there will be alot of potential hiccup games. We'll be one of the few teams with little change from the team that played 91 games together last season - need to use that to our advantage.
