Since the season is now offically over I actually feel like I can do this thread; I personally always enjoy them for a bit of fun so thought I'd pop it up. Obviously as the title suggests its your chance to evaluate the roster from head to toe and hand out your awards - and for once I actually think it could be tougher than usual.
The Roster
Carlos Arroyo
James Augustine
Tony Battie
Keith Bogans
Brian Cook
Keyon Dooling
Maurice Evans
Adonal Foyle
Pat Garrity
Marcin Gortat
Dwight Howard
Rashard Lewis
Jameer Nelson
J.J. Redick
Hedo Turkoglu
The Awards
Most Valuable Player
Most Improved Player
Defensive Player
6th Man
Surprise of the Year
Disappointment of the Year
---
Few ways you can go about it - many will opt for the traditional letter grade copy and paste job - but the more discussion the better!.

MVP = Dwight, Everytime he was off the floor this year we knew it. He had the largest plus minus out of anyone and was not only the anchor of our offense but deffense also.
MIP = Hedo, I think the nba decided that already. This guy was unbeliveably clutch this year for us. His all around game helped us get to the 2nd round this year.
Defensive Player = Dwight, He might of only averaged 2 blks a game but he probably changed 5-6 more. He makes other teams actually affraid of coming into lane, thats priceless.
6th man = Keyon? I think I would have to go with him here. His spark off the bench was big time for us in more than a few games. His ability to really hassel the opposing teams pg really made him valuable to us.
Surprise of the Year = Hedo. NO ONE thought he would have this type of a year. Career highs in every category, especially after the mysterious flu bug thing last year. Putting up numbers that only elite wing players do, now lets see if he can continue it next year.
Disappointment of the year = Arroyo or Redick. I thought both of them would contribute this year. Neither did. Both showed flashes at times then went right back to the bench. Hopefully this will drive Redick to work all offseason on his game so he can possibly get ready for a regular role in the rotation.

Most Valuable Player: Dwight
Most Improved Player: Hedo
Defensive Player: Dwight
6th Man: Keyon - although for some reason saying he is our 6th man kind of makes me worry.
Surprise of the Year: Hedo being awesome.
Disappointment of the Year: JJ not making the rotation. And for the most part of the regular season, Meer. However he started stepping it up of late.

Most Valuable Player: Dwight Howard. The foundation of this team on offense and defense. Everyone plays off his precense, one of the reasons this team set records in 3 pointers. Reason this team won 52 games.
Most Improved Player: Hedo Turkoglu. Became the go to scorer the team needed. Steped up his game in just about every category. The talent was always there but the consistancy was not. His consistancy and confidence this year were the most improved aspect of his game and they allowed Hedo to play like the ultra versatile player that he was always capable of being.
Defensive Player: Dwight Howard. When Dwight was dominant on defense, ferociously patrolling the paint and gobbling any rebound in sight, the Magic ussually won. When he did not play aggresive on defense the Magic ussually lost. League leader in rebounds, top 5 in blocks, enough said.
6th Man: Keyon Dooling. His ability to play defense, slash to the basket and score points in bunches made him the best player off the bench.
Surprise of the Year: Marcin Gortat. After SVG proclaimed that he wouldnt give him any playing time this season, Gortat worked his butt off to earn respect and playing time from the coaching staff. He showed up in the final weeks and almost instantly became the backup center, showing good size, quickness and energy. Despite basically no playing time all year, he played well in the pressure packed playoffs. Showed signs that he will be useful next season.
Disappointment of the Year: JJ Redick. Was expected to have a scoring role off the bench but hardly played and was very inconsistant when he did. There are still unanswered questions about wether he is a rotation player.

Most Valuable Player: Dwight Howard. I dont even need to explain.
Most Improved Player: Hedo Turkoglu. Again no explanation needed.
Defensive Player: Dwight Howard. Dudes a beast and easily our best defensive player.
6th Man: Keyon Dooling. I love his energy off the bench. He plays tough D an at times can really score.
Surprise of the Year: Hedo Turkoglu / Marcin Gortat. Turkoglu for obvious reasons. An while it was only the playoffs I was pleasantly suprised by Marcin. He looks like he can be a very nice player for us off the bench, hes scrappy an plays hard.
Disappointment of the Year: JJ Redick. Not his fault though IMO. I was expecting him to be a rotation player last season but instead rode pine all yr.

Most Valuable Player
If Nelson would have bee mid-season consistent ..... Nope it's all Dwight!
Most Improved Player
Tough for me to vote against Nelson here, but Turkoglu was a near daily source of DRSD happiness

Hedo it is!
Defensive Player
Bogans disappointed me. Dwight and his monster rebounding gets my vote.
6th Man
Dooling, and by A LOT!
Surprise of the Year
I assume positive suprse: that's Lewis for me. He was ace in a support PF role. Let's think about the job he did. WOW!
Disappointment of the Year
Ariza gets some votes (and this is why he was traded). But I strongly vote for Battie. Without injury, the Magic would have been better. And his suggestion to come playoff time did not help my sports-emotions.

I'm pretty much going with the consensus votes here.
And also asking when we might see the board awards this summer.

Most Valuable Player Dwight Howard. Undoubtably the backbone of this team. Gives us 82 games. Amazing phisical abilities. Without him we probably don't even make the playoffs.
Most Improved Player Hedo Turkoglu. We have seen glimpses of what he did this season but none of us really thought he could put it all together for a full season. Honourable mention to Jameer Nelson.
Defensive Player Dwight Howard. He is the anchor of our defense. When he dominates on defense, we usually win. We won 52 times this season.
6th Man Keyon Dooling. Honestly we don't have a very good bench. Keyon was the best of the bunch giving us great energy that helped us more often than not. How many times was he Subway Sub of The Game?
Surprise of the Year Co-winners - Hedo Turkoglu & Marcin Gortat. Turkoglu I have talked about. Marcin came in late in the season and showed he belonged. So much so that Van Gundy started using him as Dwight's sub in the playoffs even though he hadn't played all season.
Disappointment of the Year Keith Bogans. After a hot start playing solid defense and hitting open jumpers he slowed down remarkably as the season wore on. So much so that in the playoffs he was almost useless.

Everyone's already listed the players i feel that deserve the awards and the reasons for it, so i'm jut gonna name them, unless i have a different opinion.
Most Valuable Player: Dwight Howard
Runner Up - Hedo. Dwight powers this team. Hedo runs this team. Without his facilitation, 3pt shooting and cluth shots, it's really uncertain who would've stepped up to do ALL those things for this team.
Most Improved Player: Hedo Turkoglu
Defensive Player: Dwight Howard
6th Man: Mo Evans - i know that ultimately he became the starter, but he originally came off the bench, and his performance was so much better than Bogans' + Keyon's that he took the starting SG spot off them. That to me shows how good his 6th man performance was. But, otherwise, i agree that Keyon was best off the bench the entire season.
Surprise of the Year: Hedo Turkoglu
Runner Up - Marcin Gortat - I can't believe that after getting hardly any PT all season he managed to fill SVG with enough confidence to throw him out on the court in the playoffs. Makes you wonder what he could've been doing and learning all season had he been getting Foyle's minutes.
Disappointment of the Year: Jameer Nelson - this isn't to get up him, because he pulled it off in the playoffs, but he was just so up and down, to the point that he had to get pulled out of the SL so that Arroyo, of all people, could take his spot. I thought Nelson would've blossomed throughout the season under SVG's reign. Now i'm not certain that he'll ever give 82 games worth of good-great performances, like he showed in the playoffs. but as long as he brings it in time for the playoffs then that's when we'll need it most.
Runner Up - JJ - I can't call him the disappointment, but it was disappointment that he didn't get the chance to really prove himself on the big stage. i've still got hopes for him.

Most Valuable Player - Dwight
Most Improved Player - Dwight
Defensive Player - Dwight
6th Man - Keyon?
Surprise of the Year - Lewis & Hedo Combo actually working
Disappointment of the Year - Backcourt performance accross the board. Mo was consistant but not specticular. Same with Dooling. JJ did nothing. Jameer was inconsistant, Bogans was awesome then dissapeared, Arroyo wasn't consistant either.
