What "system" in 08-09?

Post#1 » by aleZ » Sat Jun 21, 2008 6:17 pm

Time for a poll on the new look forums huh...
I'd love for Dwight to get more touches next season, if and when he cuts down his turnovers and improves in areas like freethrows/passing out of the double team. Those two really hurt the team when they lost.

What's your take?

If Dwight cuts down those TO's + maybe slightly increases his FT% just a bit then he'll become the main focus through and through - I do expect Rashard to get alot more going - seeing some more of his game - not just his shot, seeing more post ups and drives from him [and subsquent apperences at the FT line].

I just think we Dwight being such a main focus down low, we won't get away from shooting so many three pointers. People say that shooting them is a bad thing. I think as long as you have good shooters with open looks, there's nothing wrong with it. Let the defense pick their poison.

Don't know who voted for Lewis to be the main focus but that would be bad. The main focus of this offense should be Howard period. Everytime they come down he should touch the ball it collapses the defense and makes things easier for everyone. The only other thing I could possibly see them doing is Hedo running the point forward position more.

Definitely inside out with Dwight getting the first look, and only running when its available. I'd like to become a nasty half court, defensive team. Slow it down and shorten the game, and limit the turnovers. I don't mind the three pointers at all if its because Dwights getting double teamed, but we need to be more patient on offense and go deeper into the shot clock. Give Dwight a chance to re-post if need be, but he too needs to show some patience with that. Ewing will help him get there.

Whole season of Brian Cook = 3 pointers galore.
11/18/2017 - I have officially disowned Nikola Vucevic and branded him a loser.

- Skal Labissiere was my guy in 2016 pre-trade. Whoops, but I still believe.
- Malik Monk was my guy in 2017. Whoops(?)
- Mo Bamba was my guy in 2018. TBD.

I definatly think 3 points are a given next season, we arent going to move away from that potent attack - with Dwight in the paint getting alot of ball theres going to a ton of chances out on the perimeter.

But I do think SVG will demand that guys like Rashard and Hedo use alot more of their versatile arsenal - especially Rashard - going inside and posting up, trying to get Lewis taking his man on the dribble - and as I say - getting to the charity line with consistency, and it being someone OTHER than Dwight.

I just see alot more balanced attack coming next season over all; we have the offense to do it aswell.

3>>>>>>>>>2. I want to destroy all 3pt. shooting records. I want to have five 3pt. shooters on the floor at all times. I want the Magic to trade for Troy Murphy or Memo Okur, start him at center, Lewis and Hedo at the fowards, JJ at SG, and Jameer and PG and i want to rain 3 point bombs from all over, with Brian Cook and his Money Maker being the 6th man off the bench. Resign Patrick. Dwight will get playing time depeding on matchups and his main task will be to put up 3pts. when he is not getting rebounds. We will occasionaly take 2 point shots as a decoy to get more 3's.
