adam morrison???

according to hoopshype he might be available and the bobcats are looking for another first round pick in the late teens or early 20's and since we have the 22nd pick i figured that's early 20's. they want to pick up hibbert and we need a shooting guard and i think morrison fits that role because he can make plays and he can shoot. the only question mark i have on him is if he can stay healthy. if he can consistantly give us 76-79 games a year and average 15 or so points he would be perfect for us. the only thing is what else can we give them for him. i was thinking cook and the 22nd pick for him. it works under the CBA

I will say it straight up: thats a terrible idea. If we get Morrison so he can play SG thats incredibly bad.
To the original poster: I see you have a JJ avatar. Is it like a sick twisted fantasy of yours to unite JJ and Morison since they are best friends and college players of the year?

No way you can expect 15 ppg out of Morrison, especially as a (at best) fourth option. He is about as God-awful a defender as there is in this league, and he does not give us what we need at all. He's inconsistent and, like you said, an injury liability.
We don't necessarily need to go out and get the flashiest name possible to fill our holes. We were the highest scoring team in the East this season, points on the board is not what we need. We need defense. And we already have a great shooter who doesn't play defense from the 2006 Draft. His name is J.J. Redick.

I just threw up in my mouth a little at the thought. Morrison and Redick potentially manning the 2 for Orlando is about the scariest prospect in league history. Two overly hyped, one dimensional players who can shoot, but not rebound, defend or create. Add to that the caveat that although they are both capable of putting the ball in the basket given the room, they struggle to get their shots off in the NBA against bigger, stronger, more athletic defenders (Morrison in particular).

Wtf is this? You want Morrison and JJ manning the bench next to each other? We could have 60 combined college points on the bench, but all of that means nothing in the NBA where these guys arnn't any good at all. Insane someone would suggest this garbage were better off trading the pick for cash.

Actually if you take a closer look the avatar of the first post is of Hedo. Redick wears number 7 that jersey number is double digit number 12 I think, but looks like Hedo.
So it sounds like he is just trying to get rid of AM to anyone other then the Bobcats.
Plus AM is a SF not a SG.

Morrison could be a long-term solution to the wing-bench depth. Vs. a #22 draft pick, and training said rookie, bench depth on the wing would be more valuable today. Does GM Smith value today more than the long term???
The proposed Morrison trade would likely get GM Smith on the phone to discuss the details. From there???

This might actually work... Another trade needs to take place though for this to work.
Orlando trades:
Nelson
Lewis
Howard
Lakers trade:
Sasha
Vlad Rad
Mihm
Our new championship caliber team:
Sasha
Redick
Morrison
Vlad Rad
Mihm
With a lineup like that we would be unstoppable!!!

i would trade him for JJ straight up. This team has enough back-up SG's.
JJ
Bogans
(possibly Lee, CDR or Rush)
(posibly Evans or Dooling)
(possibly MLE)
If Shard logs most of his minutes at PF, then our SF mins could go to Turk and Ammo.

THE QUICK REPLY IS BACK!!! Nice...
As crazy as it sounds...I am starting to think that JJ will be a better player in the long run than Morrison...he is probably just as effective now.

That trade makes no sense. Morrison doesn't even play SG. I might give up #22 for Okafor though....or how about trading #22 for #9 straight up?

Actually, I would consider doing JJ and the #22 for Morrison if we could move back into the late first round somehow. I am not ready to give up on Morrison just yet, and if he can be had this cheap I for one would roll the dice. He would be a very solid 6th man scorer off the bench. We could then use the late first round pick on either CDR or a big and sign whichever of those 2 we don't draft for all or part of the MLE. Something like Childress or Kurt Thomas.

I like that reasoning.
Think of it like this: we got Hedo to do exactly that, which was come off the bench and score. Granted, it was also insurance if Hill wasn't going to be healthy. But I think if the price was right, Morrison would be a good bench scorer.

These two posts are easily some of the most disgusting things I've ever seen written on this board. People being sold on this bust is just sad. Morrison is pure garbage. Trading Reddick and the 22 for him would be insane considering both players are probably going to end up being better than him. I hate Reddick and I'd rather have him over this garbage. I can't even believe you guys would do something that crazy.

John Hollinger wrote:For starters, he is quite likely the least athletic perimeter player to enter the league in the past 20 years. Among the league's 63 small forwards, Morrison ranked 58th in rebound rate, 61st in blocks per minute, and 62nd in steals per minute.
r. Morrison's 45.0 true shooting percentage was the second-worst among small forwards. That he averaged double figures anyway was testament to the minutes Charlotte kept giving him and the fact he never stopped shooting. But he had a horrible, horrible season, and anyone who says differently just wasn't paying attention.
Scouting report: Wait, there's more. Morrison might have been the worst one-on-one defender in the game, standing far too upright with his hands at his sides while scorers zoomed past him. So bad was it that as soon as he entered one game against Washington, the Wizards immediately called an isolation for DeShawn Stevenson -- probably the only time they called that play all season -- to attack Morrison on a post-up. Though Stevenson is four inches shorter, he scored easily.

There is simply no way to rationalize JJ ever being better than Morrison. This would obviously be a roll of the dice while his value is low, but Morrison sure can score. He has already showed he can do that in the NBA (unlike JJ). If we can find a way to grab a late first rounder then there is no reason not to do this.
