Something to take our minds off the frenzy called draft day and relax for a second or two.
I am so glad that I don't have this Doctor. The worst part is that only after 6 months he can try and get his license back what are they crazy. Here is the article:
TRENTON, N.J. (AP) -- A New Jersey surgeon's medical license was suspended after state regulators found he removed the wrong lung from a patient, then tried to conceal the error.

The State Board of Medical Examiners found Dr. Santusht Perera removed a portion of the patient's right lung when he should have been removing a tumor in the left lung, the state Attorney General's Office said Wednesday.

Perera, according to the board, then told the patient that the right lung contained a life-threatening tumor, though there was no such growth. He also altered the patient's records to show he intended to operate on the right lung.

The board determined that Perera's actions constituted gross negligence.

The board said the "tragic error" could have been prevented if Dr. Perera had taken "the most basic and minimal of actions that should be taken by a surgeon in advance of surgery."

Perera, who practices at Hoboken University Medical Center, was assessed $81,000 in fines and reimbursement costs.

His lawyer, Michael J. Keating, is on vacation and not available for comment, his office said Wednesday.

David Wald, a spokesman for the Attorney General's Office, said no other complaints were pending against the doctor.

Under the ruling, Perera can appeal for an early restoration of his medical license after six months.

so he tries to cover it up? better be longer then 6months, i dont see how people do stuff like that, if you follow procedure its hard to operate on the wrong section of the body..

In seriousness though, this isnt the first time I've seen it, remember last year we had a thread about that double amputee because they got the wrong are first.

A woman in my apt building had the same thing happen and won a judgement of about 25 million dollars. She went from 5'4" to just alittle over 3 feet tall.

wonder what they will get in a settlement, especially if it was life threatning? Wouldnt the doctor notice that their was no tumor anyways?

medical mistakes happen a lot more than you'd think. People die all the time because doctors and nurses either misdiagnose them, mistreat them, or make a mistake in surgery that they shouldn't have. And a lot of surgeries have these kinds of mistakes happen, most times they catch it or they don't try and cover it up. But it happens.

The hip hop artist Static Major (the guy featured on Lil Wayne's lollipop) was about to bust out on to the scene with his debut album. He had a non-life threatening virus, and they put some device in his neck to help him deal with it. It was uncomfortable so he asked them to remove it, the doctor removed it improperly and it killed him. It was a VERY simple procedure.

It truly is sad when these things happen.

I know that feeling myself I saw 3 specialists for a skin growth and all three got it wrong, later on it turned out to be cancer. Lucky for me the cancer was slow growing otherwise I wouldn't be posting here. I went to Duke to get treated so far I have been cancer free for one year and 7 months. Didn't trust the Dr's up here since all those Dr's got it so wrong.
