I was just watching sportscenter and they had a news break... Said Dwight has a stress fracture of his sternum and if I heard correctly, I thought they said it happened in the playoffs... Ran in the other room when I heard Magic and only heard the stress fracture part for sure...

I saw the same thing, but can't find anything about it on the internet. "Bad Blow to U.S. Olympic team and the Orlando Magic as it was revealed today that Dwight Howard fractured his sternum during the playoffs."

:o :o

a fractured sternum doesnt take very long to heal, if it happened in the playoffs it should be healed by now...i dont understand...have to see what they say...

He'll be long-since recovered by the start of the regular season...maybe it's a ploy to have him sit of the Olympic games? If Dwight's health was in question, surely we would have picked up another big in the draft?

horrible...even when injuries heal they are horrible to have on your record...sometimes you completely recover, but in most cases you'll never be the exact same...man, team USA went from one center, to zero...nice...

ouch, this sucks. He'll probably heal up fast and play though. Sternum isn't too bad, kinda wondering how he fractured it though, and why it took so long for the news to break (maybe they were just trying to keep it quiet).

yea so he should be fine by the time they kick it into high gear preparing for the Olympics. Hopefully this doesn't become a problematic injury for him, it shouldn't considering how rarely you hear about basketball players getting this injury. Like espn points out it's more typical amongst hockey players.

The link makes me feel much better, when I heard it on sportscenter it sounded much worse... The only thing that makes me a little uneasy is this franchises notorious relationship with stress fractures...

Judging by the link, it should be no big deal. But there's always a concern, obviously.
11/18/2017 - I have officially disowned Nikola Vucevic and branded him a loser.

- Skal Labissiere was my guy in 2016 pre-trade. Whoops, but I still believe.
- Malik Monk was my guy in 2017. Whoops(?)
- Mo Bamba was my guy in 2018. TBD.

Wooh, that's not too too bad. Could be a lot worse. With Dwight's work out regime, I think he bounces back great from injuries and when he gets them they're not too too bad.

OMG

I just had my sports life flash before my eyes.

Could this have any lingering effects and can he have a 100 percent recovery?

:(
Dwight Howard on his FT struggles:

"I just think everybody needs to stop talking about it," Howard said. "There's more to life than free throws."

More concerned that he can't work on his game. If he hasn't done anything he won't have more than about a month to practice on his free throw shooting and post game.

says he should be ready July 21st. And actually they say he's in week 6 of recovery, with an eight week recovery schedule. So he should be ready to start playing around the 14th.

So he'll have plenty of time to prepare for the regular season. I think most players take it easy in June anyway. Still a good 4 months before the NBA season, so he has time.
