O-Sen: Magic shift focus as Duhon heads to Knicks (update21)

Free-agent point guard Chris Duhon could finalize contract terms with the Orlando Magic by the end of the week after spending Wednesday with coaches, players and General Manager Otis Smith.
Duhon, who played the past four seasons with the Chicago Bulls, is scheduled to return home this morning, where he will decide whether to sign with the Magic, or the New York Knicks. He visited New York on Monday.
"The visit here went really well,'' said Kevin Bradbury, Duhon's agent, Wednesday night from his Orlando hotel room. "Chris wants to help a team win a championship. That's what Orlando is trying to do. That's different than a team looking to rebuild. He was flattered that a team of this caliber wants him.''
The Magic were expected to offer Duhon a three-year deal worth close to $10 million.
O-Sen: Chris Duhon could sign with Orlando MagicTHis has a dramatic effect on Dooling. Duhon would be a nice backup to Nelson, but as Dooling can also play the 2, I do not see this as an upgrade.
In the end, I guess GM Smith want to ensure PG depth over rolling dice on Keyon's contract.
Another key quote:
The signing of Duhon would end any pursuit of Los Angeles Clippers guard Corey Maggette.

Damn Spurs... I guess............ ............. ........................ .... ..... Petrus

?
EDIT: " Also on Wednesday, Courtney Lee, the Magic's first-round draft choice, passed his physical and began practicing with the club's summer-league team. "

Praying this makes us forget about Maggette

A New York perspective:
The Knicks can expect to know Thursday whether guard Chris Duhon, ... will make a decision Thursday between offers from the Knicks and Orlando Magic.
It is believed that Duhon, 25, is leaning toward the Knicks offer, ....

if he can start for D'Antonie and the Knick no wonder why he is " Leaning toward the knicks offer " more of a reason we should have had Maggette here First selling him on how much his mom would love it to come to the O-Rena and watch him play with Dwight,Shard and Turk... Only 2 things that could save face of not jumping all over maggette for a bargan price is
1.) Get Duhon/J-Wills <-- even though i think we need a Bigger back up point, Get Petruis, Trade JJ for a servicable back PF
2.) Courtney Lee comes in and he is the truth.

I wouldn't mind having Duhon at all. I'm confident he can run the point better than Arroyo or Dooling.

i'd be happy with duhon
now who is next:
3rd PG should be found in our SL roster
Otis and stan seem happy with our frontcourt
i know stan+otis love dooling but i think he ll go to highest bidder so don t count on him to be back

,i like him too but wouldn t break the bank on him
with the rest of our MLE i don t think we could find anyone better than evans,so i think we should resign him (expecially with bogans and JJ unlikely to be here next year)
nelson,duhon,(one of thoses guys:Kruger,Roberts, Hammonds)
Evans,lee,
bogans,JJ
hedo,
lewis,bogans,byears
lewis,
battie,cook,auggie
howard,battie,gortat
that is 15 players

I really dont get the bid deal with this guy
Ive seen plenty of bulls games, and really ive never been overly impressed with him and would much rather see us re-sign Dooling

He'll give Bogans a run for his money in the "Wildly off target 3 point attempts" category.

http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/baske ... erest.htmlThe downside to Duhon is that over the years he has earned a reputation for enjoying the nightlife. According to a source, Duhon's partying dates back to his days at Duke when he would sleep at head coach Mike Krzyzewski's house to avoid the temptation of going out on the town.
"He's a good kid and he can play, but his lifestyle worries me," said one of Duhon's former coaches who did not want to be identified.
That's just his "downside" if you wanna read his "upside" read the link

Duhon has trouble running an offense but the guy is a very good defender. He'll be a great addition to help stop Billups and Rip from killing us in every game.

Bogans will be here.
I wouldn't bet against Redick being here at least through camp if not longer.

that's because Dooling can't run the point, and Arroyo is erratic at best.
Duhon will give the backcourt some versatility. could allow JJ to see some time. would mean Dwight could get more entry passes.

we're going to get Duhon...Dwight Howard took him out on the town last night to talk to him...plus now I hear the deal from NY is 2 years around $6 million vs. our 3 year $10 million...it's a wrap...

Duhon is definitely an upgrade over Dooling and Arroyo, but not as much as passing on the upgrade at the two that we could have gotten with Maggs or MP. I hope there is still a trade for us out there, but getting Duhon is still a good signing, not as sexy as I wanted, but decent none the less. I'm jumping on the Kwame bandwagon for the LLE or the rest of the mle now though, and getting DA for the vet min as our third string would also be very nice too.

Good question. The team still needs a combo big to add dept to the front line.

Thief have you heard anything about who the Magic are going to pursue next? We need to add bulk to the frontline next, IMO.

I'd like a combination of Pietrus/Hayes and Elson/Brown/Thomas
