Delfino received offers from Cleveland and Orlando

Post#1 » by Paul Overt » Sun Jul 6, 2008 9:44 pm

The agent of (Carlos) Delfino, Angel Cerisola, confirmed that the Spurs made him “an offer for two seasons. Carlos is being looking for an agreement looks a bit longer, for three years.” San Antonio also handles other possibilities names like Mickael Pietrus (Golden State), James Jones (Portland), James Posey (Boston) or Quintin Ross (LA Clippers).

Also, Delfino received offers from Cleveland and Orlando. In addition, outside the NBA, Khimky, Russia, he approached a millionaire proposal. Anyway Santa Fe guy has the intention of staying longer in the league of the United States and if with Manu (Ginobili) and Fabri (Oberto) much better.

Low TOs, 15 mpg solid!, nice bench scoring. Delfino would easily replace Evans if the Magic get a new starting SG. Carlos Delfino will not likely be a starter though. And thus, there is still a HUGE void at the 2.

Delfino is a nice player who could help out but it just depends on how much $ he wants.

Depending on how much we have offered (if it's true, of course), this wouldn't be a bad pick up. Like most Argentinians, he is relatively tough, and unafraid to play defense. His shot selection is pretty poor at this stage, but he can definitely hit from the outside. Add to that, he is a very good athlete and rebounder - 8.9 rebounds per 48 is excellent for a guy who goes 6'6", and is behind only Dwight and Foyle amongst Magic players who played significant minutes in 07-08.

I believe he is restricted, so Toronto could match, but if he ended up in a Magic uni, I still think he would be an upgrade of MoBo.

I would rather have Evans back. Atleast with Evans you know you are going to get a consistent effort, hustle and professionalism each game.

We already have Carlos Delfino. His name is Keith Bogans. Only difference is Keith use to be a great rebounding guard and Delfino still is. Delfino defense may be worse than Bogans. They both are just chuckers from the outside. CD may have a little more creativity in his game but I would not consider that an upgrade over KB or Evans. You could easily give Bogans the minutes you would give Delfino and get the exact same thing. It be smarter to sign someone that brings some new skills to the table.

Delfino would be interesting I guess. His PER is below average but his WP48 is way above average, at .165 to be exact, where .100 is considered average. Just for comparison purposes Evans and Bogans were .098 and .092, respectively. So he has that metric going for him. All in all though, I say pass. I'd rather take my lumps with the rookie or J.J. if we are going to go the mediocre route.

Does this mean that the Spurs might be using part of the MLE for Delfino?

I've always liked Delfino, but I don't think he's right for this team. But he wouldn't be a terrible pickup.

So maybe Otis isn't just sitting back doing nothing after all ...

Is Flopfino as well as Chuckfino?

What's going to happen if Chuckfino and Chuck Arroyo are both in the backcourt at the same time?

I don't think my t.v. can handle any more explosions. And this wouldn't be a good explosion, like when Diener would enter games. This would be a DOOM goes the dynamite, epic fail of an explosion.

Please don't sign him Otis

Don't worry, Carlos Arroyo won't be back. He'll get a chance to be a starter somewhere else.

Yuck, I agree I'd rather have Evans back. Bonzi would be better too, hey what about Stackhouse? I'd take him too, but not skinny Delfino.

One man's garbage is another mans treasure. I for one would be trilled for Carlos to go elsewhere. I'm sick of reading all of you guys bitching about him.
