Bring Back Armstrong

Post#1 » by ProfX » Thu Jul 10, 2008 6:03 pm

For Serious! We need a third string point. One year deal for the Vet Minimum. Feed him coffee and chocolate and he is good for 72.. Get it done OTIS~! Let him finish his career here in Orlando. 20 Year Anniversary, re-sign D/A and retire number 25#

I would say that other than his age he is a better option than JWill for this team this year. Yea sure he can't shoulder playing 25-30 minutes a game anymore (I dont even want to say that cause he very well may could) but between him and JWill they would at least be two old bodies to cover the minutes. Plus chances are we will have one of the three PG's banged up for most of the season (especailly JWill)

I think his style is more of what we should be looking for. We need a pass first playmaker who plays solid defense and brings energy off the bench. I dont know if JWill is any of those things but DA sure used to be. He is a little smaller than we would like in a perfect world but the PG position in the FA is far from stacked this year. Plus he definatley will play his ass of for vet min. money fo sure.........

Get us DA Ottis!

D/A would be third string for sure.. I just think we need someone that can fill the gap with JWill's knees go down, who accepts his role.

Frankly, I cannot believe Darrell still has it in him to play.

Bringing in 41 year old Darrell Armstrong for an energy spark makes about as much sense as bringing in Muggsy Bogues to become a shot blocker. No to Armstrong, but if they want to bring him in as an assistant coach I say go for it.
You look confused...let me fill you in.

Agreed... give him some job with Bo Outlaw as like a community ambassador or something where he is involved in the Orland Magic organization and community

As a 3rd-string PG for the vet minimum, I'm all for it.

Spot minutes here and there, great locker room presence, and a leader who can help mentor Nelson.

Also, not going to grumble about playing time. I'm not saying we HAVE to sign him, just a thought for a quality, useful end of the bench guy.

I would be all over it if he was going to be a 3rd stringer behind someone other than Jason Williams, but in a lineup of Nelson/Williams/Armstrong I would almost think that DA might get more burn than Will by default...

We all love Armstrong, but simply put, there's nothing left in the tank. Last year his assist/TO numbers were not good. His FG% plummeted.

Armstrong can look to coaching now.
