New Arena Update (O-Sen)

Post#1 » by Edrock » Mon Jul 14, 2008 5:05 pm

Link to an article detailing new amenities for the arena:

http://www.orlandosentinel.com/news/loc ... 1994.story

Highlights include:

A bar w/a view of the court...

Upscale restaurant (also w/courtside view)

Outdoor terrace w/rooftop bar

Kids entertainment complex.

Seems like they've really packed this thing with a lot of nice features. Looking forward to it!

It's about time they open a legit teams store. I've always wanted a place to go to be able to get a large selection of Magic gear ever since the Mag Fanattic closed years ago. It sucked when I was in Toronto to see the Blue Jays team store at the Rogers Centre and the Raptors/Maple Leafs/Toronto FC store at the Air Canada Centre and realize who utterly lame the Magic selection has been for a decade. We need some legit gear.

I for one am against all the shenannigans in arenas these days. In Europe and elsewhere, fans go to the games to support the team. In America, we go to games to be entertained. It's upsetting to me that we've come to "expect" to be entertained and if the team loses, as long as we got a balloon and the kids got to play PS3 games, it was a fulfilling night.

We pay so much for tickets, I understand that they have to give us our money's worth to make us show up, but the result is a paradigm shift from support to entertainment.

It's fine, I just don't like where it's going.

It will be an amazing arena and I am very excited about it. The best part is the possibility of bringing All Star Weekend to Orlando.

David Stern has verbally guaranteed this. What the Magic look for is more than one ASW out of this arena. Orlando has a great convention city and can easily host multiple events!
