Hey guys after I read that Tampa Bay Lightning signed Lecavalier to an 11yr deal, it got me thinking what about the NBA? Well another sports rumor site I always vistit actually had a topic about it. It turns out that Magic Johnson had signed a deal 25yrs for 25mil. Which at that time was an incredible amount. Does anyone else know of other crazy contracts?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magic_Johnson"During the off-season, Johnson signed a 25-year, $25-million contract, which was the highest-paying contract in sports history up to that point."

LOL craziness... Also a friend of mine told me during MJs prime years he was only getting paid 7-8 mil a yr. I think due to this contract by Johnson this could very well be true for MJ. Though I cant validate it, I dont see why it wouldnt be true either. Does anyone know for sure? Also is it just me or does it seem like contracts back in the years were more hush hush than they are now. Sometimes I wish I never knew how much these players get paid. I wish they would all go back to 1mil a yr. Nobody needs 5-20mil a yr.

MJ was making like 2-4 mil before he signed a massive contract worth 30 mil in the 96-97 season. He got 33 mil in the 97-98 season. The Bulls won it all both years though, so I would say it was a wise investment, haha. And it seems like Magic got more than just 1 mil per year. You can check the salaries here

The Johnson deal was eventually changed to a $25million deal for 10 years, which is why the bball reference numbers come out to around 2.5mill each year.
By the end of the deal at 2.5mill a year he was hideously underpaid though, hence the 14mill odd payjump the following season.
