The Real Pietrus
These quotes are from last year and his stats from this past season don't show any great improvement in fact many of his numbers were worse then before. And yes people he got 20 minutes per game to prove himself and didn't.
Not great shooting free throws:
Pietrus also got to the foul line quite a bit when he wasn't bombing away,
Also poor ball handling and turns the ball over a lot:
Mental lapses and fouls a lot:
Defensively, Pietrus has the potential to be a stopper due to his length and quickness,
This is a guy many of you say will start, yea right:
Of course, the easiest way to increase his playing time would be to increase his performance, but Pietrus seems stuck at his current level of halfway-decentness.

We shall see.
11/18/2017 - I have officially disowned Nikola Vucevic and branded him a loser.
- Skal Labissiere was my guy in 2016 pre-trade. Whoops, but I still believe.
- Malik Monk was my guy in 2017. Whoops(?)
- Mo Bamba was my guy in 2018. TBD.

Jesus, can we please at least wait with this criticism till the season starts and we actually see how MP fits in our team? Bashing is so easy...

Wait a second, how is it bashing if the man is simply putting facts that other people wrote down in his post? Why are you getting so defensive theres a good side and a bad side to every play its best we know both going into the signing wouldnt you think. People in the other thread were so quick to talk about all the bad attributes of JR Smith, but no one dare talk about the bad part os Pietrus game. I don't care what team the guy plays for I wanna hear the good and bad about a players game.

Re: The Real Pietrus
One thing that really stands out in all of this is the talk about mental lapses. A new situation, particularly a situation he feels comfortable with, could definitely change a lot of that. After we signed him I made a post on the Warriors board to see how the Warriors fans felt about him and there we saw a lot of the same that was mentioned here. Time will tell if he can still change, I'm willing to give him a chance at least. If he is willing to work for it, offcourse. No pain, no gain MP!

Sounds like a title for a reality TV show. So maybe the new Doug Christie ?

Re: The Real Pietrus
hes a bum..... we shall see after 15-20 games if he can handle it for us. If not we will all be pissed and bash otis for a month straight. If he excels Otis will be king. not to me though.

Re: The Real Pietrus
Nah, he just missed his buddy Foyle. The only conceivable reason for his mental lapses.

That's the big question mark right there.
I've seen a lot of Pietrus during the years (GoldenState is one of my favorite teams) and he's always showed a serious lack of basketball IQ. From stepping out of bounds to fouling too much in key situations, you name 'em.
We'll see if Stan can fix that, I'm confident he will, but it's up to Pietrus himself to show he finally belongs in this league.

Dwight Howard on his FT struggles:
"I just think everybody needs to stop talking about it," Howard said. "There's more to life than free throws."

Re: The Real Pietrus
The Magic were far below average statistically at starting SG last year. If Pietrus moves the Magic to "average," that's indeed an upgrade.

Re: The Real Pietrus
It's like a bad campaign ad:
"The Real Pietrus: A Secret Muslim"
Anyway... I agree that the biggest concern is his BBIQ, but the reason he seems to fit into our system well is that our SG isn't asked to make a lot of decisions with the ball. Evans and Bogans both out performed their career averages in this system because they were only rarely asked to do any creating off the dribble. Most of the time they were asked to rebound, finish at the rim off of somebody else's creation, defend, and take open shots. MP does the first three of those better than either Evans or Bogans, and is only slightly worse of a shooter. That's why I'm mildly optimistic about him.

Re: The Real Pietrus
^ good points... but evans was never known as a good shooter before he came here...and when he was asked to hit the occasional three he did it at a half way descent clip... i feel that pietrus' somewhat less ability to hit the three , if it is less, will be made up for on the glass and on the defensive end... his long arms and athleticism will really help dwight on the offensive glass also... remember how effective ariza was coming off the weakside for offensive boards?? pietrus can do this and hit that occasional three...
Summertime and the livin's easy....
