Don't tell that Milwaukee Bucks fan that thinks Evans was the key to success last year.
Seriously though, this has to be a precursor to a move because the Magic aren't exactly overflowing with front court players.

Was his deal partially guaranteed (like he'd get paid if he made it to training camp??) Coulda been an accounting move, but it doesn't seem like a good idea considering they still have roster space, and he's a min. $$$ player.

I think he could be a solid backup to a few teams. Its just with us he was a 3rd stringer at best. He seemed like a really cool guy, I wish him the best...

Yeah, this has to signal a move coming. He wasn't making enough to put us over the cap. We have to be looking to fill his roster spot in another way here. I don't know if it means a Hedo deal or not, but somethings brewing.

This makes no sense...We have 12 players on the roster WITH Auggie...We haven't re-signed Foyle YET..So,I don';t get it..even with a trade... say its 2 for 1 (Which I doubt) we will be at 13 Maybe 14 players on the roster WITH Auggie...Something awefully weird is going on here...
Jameer/Anthony
Mickael/Courtney/JJ/Keith
Hedo/Rashard
James/Cook
Howard/Gortat
Maybe- Foyle

Anyone else find it funny how it was said that Okafor was through with the Bobcats, than a week later he has resigned with them? Wonder if a Hedo for Okafor has been discussed?!?!

I'll be anxiously waiting to see if this proves to be a precursor to another move.
Perhaps dealing a player for a package?
Hedo for a package? A big man, plus?
Perhaps nothing?

I highly doubt it, Dwight and Emeka are too similar. Maybe a Okafor for Smith, or Okafor for Gooden and Gordon.

http://www.orlandosentinel.com/sports/o ... 9424.storyOrlando Magic waive James Augustine
Compiled from staff reports
1:48 PM EDT, July 29, 2008
As expected, the Orlando Magic waived power forward James Augustine on Tuesday.
Augustine, 6 feet-10, 240 pounds, appeared in just 27 games since being selected by the Magic in the second round of the 2006 draft.
He played in 25 games last season, averaging 1.6 points and 1.2 rebounds per game.
The Magic's other power forwards are Rashard Lewis, Brian Cook and Tony Battie, who can also play center. The club wants veteran center Adonal Foyle to return. Foyle opted out of his contract after the season.
"as expected" ?
im so confused!

You are all making much to do about nothing, in my opinion.
I would be surprised if this was done for the sake of a trade. We are not that lacking in front court depth. Although it does make you wonder as to why they would re-sign him in the first place.
We've got Lewis (who hopefully still starts at PF but none the less can play PF), Battie, Cook, Gortat, Howard and most likely Foyle returning. That's 6 people to man those 2 spots. Considering Howard & Lewis will be eating the majority of those minutes up, I think we've got enough barring a major injury to Howard or Lewis.

Cough* josh smith sign and trade* cough
maybe? him and dwight are hometown boys together, and smith and howard up front would be UNSTOPPABLE in the nba forget east, imagine if we got smith and somehow got critt too, dwight would be the happiest player in history and it would show his power over management

I can't see how this was expected, thats not right. I'll take a wild stab at this, and I do mean wild. What if Memphis pushed us into a tougher deal, say:
Hedo-6.86
Bogans-2.91
JJ-2.14
=11.91M
for
Critt-1.38
Warrick-2.12
Jaric-6.57
Arthur-.977
and a first rounder
=11.04M
It doesn't necessarily explain why Auggie was waived, other than we do a 3 for 4 deal and want his roster spot for something else, but we still had a spot on the IR for him. I don't know, just having some fun though, but I think I would do this anyway.
ORL
pg-nelson,crittenton,a.johnson
sg-pietrus,lee,jaric
sf-lewis,warrick
pf-battie,arthur,cook
c-dwight,gortat,foyle
Some would have to go to the IR, but not sure who really. Maybe Jaric gets waived instead, and Foyle sits. Again, just messing around.
