Sentinel Article on Dwight

Here's a link to a David Whitley article in the Sentinel on Dwight:
LINKHowever, I think this guy needs to check his stats. Howard shot below 50% from the line. I think the 74% is his FG%...
And whoever coached free throws for the U.S. team, the Magic should put that guy on retainer.
Howard made 35 of 47 in Beijing, which is 74 percent. If he could do that every night in the NBA, it would seriously complicate the lives of opposing coaches.

Interesting that Howard was off of the bench for the title game.

Davis Whitley is awful.
His columns are usually just babble.
Enough said.

Dwight's so frustrating. I think a big part of his struggles at the line have to do with him bending his knees, then standings STRAIGHT UP, and lastly shooting.
He needs to shoot on the way up, otherwise he'll keep being his brick-like self.

Dwight wasn't the only one not making free throws. Carmelo & LeBron weren't great at the lines either. Everyone always focuses on Dwight's FT shooting like they did with Shaq. When Shaq was younger, the focus was on his FT shooting but when he matured as a player, they never got better. Shaq took the focus off by saying he'll make them when they count.

I found it interesting what Stan said about it hurting Dwights development.
Then again though the validity of this article has already been thrown into question so I would debate whether or not at some point Stan was even quoted much less talked too.

Did I miss something? He started.
Who writes the headlines for Real GM Wiretap, by the way? Talk about LOOKING for the negative to focus on and trying to create a rift between Stan and Dwight that doesn't exist....

Then SVG must really be happy that Howard is going to play in 2012.

Yeah he didn't sound very pleased in the quote. However by the year 2012 I think the Dwight we have is the Dwight well get. He'll be what 26/27? I think his development years would be behind him. Consider the three year commitment leading up to the Olympics as the real issue.

That's been my issue all along.
So Howard will spend 6 of 8 developmental summers not developing.
His post game now is likely to stay pretty much where it is. Same thing for his face ups too.

Yea, but if we just considering the games itself, it looks like Dwight is not developing at all, but you have to wonder if the practices are the same, playing against top tier competition should help him, he was playing against two seven footers in all those games....

Dwight Howard's always been inconsistent, he shot decent starting last season and that just declined. I'm not jumping on the wagon, the guy can shoot. But not consistently.

He'll go back developing those when his vertical will get lower. He doesn't look so much focused on having a faceup game, honestly.

Shaq is a special case. He was 350lbs and overpowered everybody in the league. Despite horrible free throw shooting he could still score 25+ppg. Dwight doesn't have that luxury. Dwight has to either get better at FTs or develop a better offense if he wants to be a good #1 option.
