OT: Daddy Yankee endorses McCain

At McCain's morning appearance at the Phoenix high school, there were squeals and giggles from teenage girls -- not for him, but for Daddy Yankee, the reggaeton star.
The audience of more than 100 students seemed sleepy for McCain's opening remarks about the importance of voting and the national leaders who have come from Arizona.
But they perked up when he promised a "special guest" and "a great American success story."
McCain built up the suspense by withholding the guest's name at first, but then gave it away, saying, "One of his most famous songs, I know you're very familiar with: 'Gasolina' " -- drawing gasps of surprise from the crowd -- and then finally said, "Well, here he is, Daddy Yankee."
Though McCain has sometimes shown surprising familiarity with rap stars and pop culture references because of the musical tastes of his daughters, it is unlikely that the conservative Republican would have made a point of mentioning the song had he known that the "Gasolina" lyrics are loaded with sexual references. Although there's some debate about what the word "gasolina" means in this context, one thing is certain: It's not a petroleum product.
Asked whether McCain knew about the sexual allusions, a campaign spokesman said he had no comment.
http://www.latimes.com/news/nationworld ... 9667.storyI saw this on TV yesterday and i thought it was hilarious. They were hugging and everything. Im sure that McCain had no idea who he was before this lol.

Both obama and maccain's promotion is getting downright (Please Use More Appropriate Word). (if I was american) I'd prolly vote a third candidate if he had a 1 in a million chance.

I still dont know who i will vote for. I cant stand when candidates do things like this to promote themselves. Really makes it look like they are reaching, in desperation mode. Makes the candidate look worst.

I question the wisdom of a McCain/Yankee ticket.

You know McCain should have felt dumb when the people are falling asleep for his speeches but then awaken when a rap star comes on the stage. That shows that people do not have much respect for him or just dont give a hoot what he thinks.

All I want to see is the winner actually, you know, win his vote...
No seriously, its like reading teen beat or something half the time following these campaigns this year.

To be fair, they're high school students. They can't vote yet, for the most part, and probably couldn't care less. This seems like a pretty transparent PR move, and it doesn't appear to have had its desired effect.

McCain and Daddy Yankee.. I never would've guessed McCain would call a guy like that "a good friend of mine" lol...
Things like this really make me hate the American presidential votes sometimes. I feel it's often more of a popularity match, with a twist of MTV's celebrity death match (when it comes to both candidates usually just trying to rip the other candidate to make himself look good).
It's not all their fault though. Thinking of it, it's a bit sad that actions like these can win a candidate more votes than actual politics.

That's (Please Use More Appropriate Word).
Take one hundred of the most brilliant and/or most respected people in their various fields from across the US, and the best politicians (from both parties), and let them speak in front of a group of high schoolers. I bet every single one gets nearly the same exact response.
It doesn't have anything to do with them, but everything to do with their audience.

I really don't think he was reading who he was.
Watching the video, he looks at his card before telling things about him such as how long he has been married (15), how many kids he has (3), and how old they are (14, 12, 10) -- things that you would reasonably look at a card to read, rather than attempting to remember. He doesn't look at them again.
With that said, the whole thing seemed pretty dumb, and I agree with most others sentiments.
Also, anyone find it funny that McCain is such 'a fighter for the Hispanic community' and 'can best represent the Hispanic community', yet he was the last candidate to actually get around to having his website in Spanish as well as English, only putting it up a couple months ago? I'm not trying to necessarily drill a strong point here, it's just combined with this video and Daddy Yankee's comments, I really found it humorous.
