The Orlando Magic will take 16 players into training camp next week, adding small forward Jeremy Richardson and power forward-center Dwyane Jones to the roster.

I like Jones. If he makes the team, he's the perfect hustle big for spot minutes.

Another good thing is he was college teammates with our very own JAMEER NELSON!!!

good stuff, he may not be better than augustine, but I think he can be a descent practice big and be able to fill in for spot duties.
Dwight Howard on his FT struggles:

"I just think everybody needs to stop talking about it," Howard said. "There's more to life than free throws."

I'll go lock my thread.

Nice to see how alert everyone is.

My feeling is Jones has a leg up on Richardson for that 15th spot if they do carry 15.

Dwayne Jones would be a decent insurance for Foyle or Gortat. He's got a strong body, and could be helpful, during the season he only got 8 mpg and averaged 1.4ppg,2.5rpg,0.4bpg.. As far as Richardson, he was a 10 day contract guy until he signed with the Hawks. He's a decent guy to have on the IR in case of injuries, I'm not sure he would make it to the rotation With Hedo, Redick, Bogans, Peitrus, annd Lee taking the 2guard and 3forward spots, I don't see a use for him. Dwayne Jones would make more sense.

I am excited about these 2. Could be a solid battle for the 15th pick. We need both positions, too.

We have plenty of capable SFs.

Dwayne Jones did go to St. Joes soo he has ties to JAmeer Nelson.. Lol.

I wouldn't mind either one if we decide to carry 15. The biggest reason we brought in 6 was probably to do full scrimmages, neither might end up not making the team. Hell even Mike Wilks isnt a lock to make the team.

I suppose it depends if we intend to play Rashard primarily at the 4, or Pietrus primarily at the 2.

While we certainly have solid SF's, if all 3 are in the starting lineup, it sure would be nice to have some insurance to bring in besides Bogans.

And if we decide to move Hedo at the deadline, we'll need a back-up 3.

I agree insurance is nice.

But imo we have 3 starting quality 3s and 1.5 starting PFs:

Players than can play PF:
Shard
Battie (getting older)
Gortat (minimal experience)

Players than can play SF:
Shard
Hedo
MP
Bogans (perhaps a bit short for the position)
Lee (see Bogans + minimal experience)

Re insurance:

If MP gets injured - we can start Bogans.
If Hedo gets injured - we can start Bogans and move MP to the 3 or start Battie and move Shard to the 3.
If Shard gets injured - we can start Battie.

Either of these players would be at the bottom of the rotation anyways. But, for me, based purely on need, it's the 4.

I like the idea of Dwayne Jones as another big body on the bench - his rebound and shot blocking rates per 48 minutes are pretty good, and he's a very big, physical, active body. Just the sort of guy we could use as a last man off the bench in case of foul trouble or injury. He's not going to set the world on fire, but he'll do some dirty work in limited minutes.

I like Dwayne Jones, despite the fact that he got dominated throughly by Dwight last year but thats understandable. I saw him play in other games and he looked much better than Auggie ever did. I hope he makes the team. He is a real good guy to have on the inactive list as he can play both center and PF. His ties to Jameer should help him.

The other guy I know nothing about so I cant say, but it looks like he was tearing up the D-league.

Two nice guys to look at in case ten-dayers are needed latter in the season.

Jeremy Richardson might be the better project; if Foyle and Battie are 100%, Dwayne Jones is redundant.

Uhh I don't really care to be honest lol. I guess Jones would be better b/c I have actually heard of him and it wouldn't hurt to have another big man. However, it really doesn't matter considering neither one of these guys will probably ever play. But Jones would be my choice b/c he has shown he can step in occasionally and play as he did in Cleveland.

What about B. Cook? Didn't he start some 4 LA last year?? In my opinion, you take the best player, which In this situation means you take Jeremy Richardson. Then it comes down to what we need more, a 3rd PG or a 4th PF....

Here's a thought: If Jeremy Richardson proves to be a decent player, capable of, say, the 3rd SG slot, doesn't that open up the possibility of moving our 3rd or 4th SG? Just a thought...
