Playoffs: Magic at Celtics Game 2

When: Wednesday, April 6
Time: 8 p.m. EST
Where: TD Banknorth Garden, Boston
Series: Magic up 1-0 on Boston after stealing game 1. 95-90 http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/playoffs/2009/columns/story?columnist=sheridan_chris&page=celticsmagic-090505

Starters:
Boston
pg Rajon Rondo

sg Ray Allen

sf Paul Pierce

pf glen "Big Baby" Davis

c Kendrick Perkins
Image

Orlando Magic
pg Rafer Alston

sg J.J. Redick

sf Hedo Turkoglu

pf Rashard Lewis

c Dwight Howard

Game 2:
The Orlando Magic were up 28 in the third quarter, but with rajon rondo attacking the rim and getting free throws and making them besides(http://www.sportsrubbish.com/2009/05/04/basketball/nba/rajon-rondo-airballs-free-throw-video/ They cut the lead down to 16 by the end of the third quarter. Then with the three point shooting and couple of turnovers by the magic the boston celtics eventually cut the lead down to the 3. Magic made good free throws and won the game by 5. I think that we need to make sure that we have rashard going all of the time. He was really good in the first half but disappeared in the second half and nobody was making their shots in the 2nd half. Overall though the magic stole game 1 from the celtics and need to come out and steal game 2. They need to cut down on penetration and close out on the three point shooters. Also helps when allen shoots as bad as he did in game 1.

Magic win by 7. Go 2-0 in the series.

A win would be icing. Going up 2 -0 on the road would be... well, I dare not dream it. No injuries would be nice enough.

Good thread diehard, LOL at PP expressions in Turk and Lewis lineup pics, and PP is grabbing Dwight's jersey in Dwight's lineup pic.

I'm not going to predict a win or loss in this game. Go MAGIC !

Key #1: Feed Dwight inside
Key #2: Push the ball off Celtics misses

That is all.

EDIT: I'm actually going to miss the game because I have a couple softball games tomorrow, but considering we won game 1, the outcome of this one isnt too important. If we lose, we lose. No biggie. A win would be nice though.

I heard somewhere that Scalabrine was starting instead of Davis in Game 2. Could be wrong, though.

i hope we could pullout a win here...

boston is gonna come out fast and furious, hopefully magic can match their energy.

this could be a close one: magic win 93-91

If they go Scal instead of Big Baby that will be a mistake similar to Toronto putting Bargs at the 3 to start last year's series. Don't try to overplay the matchups with your starting line up!

They are going to be tough to beat 2 games in a row on the road but they are a tired team and expended a tremendous amount of energy trying to come back. I see that playing a big role in game 2.

Also, without KG and Powe they are a different team against us; they can't defend us as well nor can they bully us inside like they usually do. This Magic team is not quite the elite offensive team it was under Nelson though, so the Celtics don't quite need to be the top defensive team they were last year to win against us on their home court.

I think that considering how tired they should be as well as their decline on the defensive end without KG and Powe we can expect at worst a tough fought game and at best another Magic win.

Official prediction is a Magic Blowout; Magic 106 : Celtics 89

I don't have a good feeling about this one.

The 2nd half of game 1 left me feeling very shaky about our team once the crowd gets rocking and the celtics get rolling we just looked scared.

The only way I see us winning game 2 is if we roll right over them again early.

I just don't see us winning we are behind or even after 3 quarters... Hopefully though, the Magic learned something and can learn to close it out better, if not this game then at home.

I like our chances more than had we won by 20-30.

Part of me feels that the Celtics will win game 2 but then part of me feels that the Magic are going to win. I don't see the Celtics going down 0-2, but the fact is that all the pressure is on the Celtics. The Magic achieved their first goal and won one in Boston. Now they are playing with house money. The Celtics on the other hand don't want to go down 0-2. IF Orlando can come out and play lose the same way they did against the Sixers, then the Celtics are in trouble. At the same time the Celtics may come out thinking to much and the will help Orlando. I'm going to go with Magic take game 2.

magic win by 10...

I say we go up by about 15 by half, they battle back to maybe 8 or 7, and we CLOSE them out this time.

i cant see the celtics getting rattled from a little pressure. their team is full of veterans with plenty of playoff experience and they have been in so many 7 game series that im sure they know how to play under pressure. although i agree with you that the magic need to come out loose, that way they can facilitate better ball movement. look for the extra pass and find the open man.
