NBA Playoffs: Game 2, Orlando Magic at Boston Celtics

Orlando Magic rookie Courtney Lee may be in uniform for Game 2 in Boston tonight
BRIAN SCHMITZ | Sentinel Staff Writer

BOSTON - After saying Tuesday he would not play, Magic shooting guard Courtney Lee might suit up tonight for Game 2 against the Celtics.

It is still likely he will not play six days after undergoing sinus surgery, but the door is ajar, contrary to what he previously indicated.

"He. . . .may dress," Coach Stan Van Gundy said. "But he has done very, very little and he's trying to get used to that mask. I would be very surprised if you see him."

Lee quietly has been building a case to play, working out and shooting while wearing his protective mask late Tuesday. He also plans to head over early to TD Banknorth Garden and move and shoot some more with it on before the game.

Could be the Magic making a ploy to make the Celtics plan for him. I really do hope he gets on the floor tonight though.

His face doesn't look injured in that picture at all. I thought I read something earlier saying he had a black eye. Anyway this looks good and if we don't see him tonight. I would imagine we see him by game three. All in All, very good news.

You guys remember the last time a starting SG went into the playoffs adjusting to a mask? :)

I remember screaming at RIP. "your suppost to be missing shots you prick". I would love to see Lee play. Will be weird seeing a magic player in a mask. He looks alittle like rip, bodywise

Spiderman aka Courtney Lee hasnt quite got the hang of this Superhero stuff yet.
Masks are supposed to hide his identity, not be see through.

He looks great. I was fearing all kind of things at first with the vague way they were describing it. He clearly had a break across the bridge of the nose. With the medical doctors clearing him, meaning they aren't worried about the surgical repair, and the fact that the mask isn't going to irritate the fractured area, he most definitely can play. With the break across the nose, its easier to form the mask to put the pressure on the cheek bones. It might be a slight irritation and affect his shot some, doubtful, but he can at least play defense with it. Also, he only missed one game in the playoffs, its not like he has a lot of catching up to do. I think we are intentionally being deceptive, and if JJ is ineffective at all, Lee is going to get the call. MP has been working more at the three taking turns playing with Shard and Hedo. I look for Lee to see the court tonight. :D

I've been watching the CSN New England pre-game special since 6:30

they said at the beginning that he could play, and then said a while afterwards that the latest report is that he wasn't going to

i suppose he still could...i'm just going by what tommy h. and co. were saying.
