Ryan Anderson

Post#1 » by Shishnizzle » Wed Feb 17, 2010 8:38 pm

He needs to get his ass in the gym and start lifting in the offseason. If he comes back next year with those spaghetti arms I'm going to be pissed. If he has the same mentality as Brian Cook and he thinks that working out will make him lose his shooting touch then he is a Moron. You can't play in the NBA in this day and age without being in shape.

I like this guy though. I think he is playing like crap but I feel he just needs to have a few good games and then he will start feeling it.

He still needs to hit the weight pile in the offseason.

Them spaghetti arms got nothing to do with it, Durant got sumn smaller than spaghetti arms, but he's still a beast. Ryan is just a chucker by nature

He should work on more then just shooting this summer - like putting the ball on the floor a little more.

I disagree, sometimes for certain guys adding a ton of weight is a bad thing. Ryan does fine, an comparing his work ethic to Brian Cook is laughable.

JJ lost his shooting touch after working out, took him a year or so to get it back.

Last off season he said he worked mostly on dribbling and shooting from mid-range off the dribble more. I'm fine with his shooting form, he just needs to continue working on his handle and build an explosive first step since most defending PFs are closing hard all the time. Oh and he works out with Brook Lopez during the off season so his post moves should improve as well.

Ryan Anderson can already put the ball on the floor, and is excellent in the pivot. It's just easier to teach a player fundamentals than it is to teach a player good shot selection.

He's growing. I don't think he'll ever be a star, but a solid bench contributor with a deadly shot. I see him growing into a Robert Horry type (Maybe)

i'd like him to work on becoming a good low post defender and rebounder, so that we can team him up with Dwight full time in the near future.

so long as Anderson exercises some self restraint on offense then he could be an immediate offensive impact player. he needs to use more of his versatility and not just his outside shot, and SVG needs to encourage that.

I was hoping Orlando would move him when his value was semi high so our real PF Bass could get burn.

Anderson is 21, he'll get stronger.
Basketball is driven by three principles:

1) Movement 2) Application of fundamentals 3) Predictability

Just needs better shot selection, he still has that tendency to take wild 3 pointers. Like craig said though, he's 21, and there WILL be improvements.
