What we needed and still need is a secondary ballhandler behind Harden so he can rest. He is really the only guy on offense who is capable of breaking down defenses. For me, one of my concerns is I didn't want to be in this situation I wanted a pure pg off the bench who could score a bit (like a healthy Rubio) or at the very least someone who could do it as well as Maxey while still allowing us to use Maxey how he functions best.

Completely agree. I've been lobbying for a legit backup PG since last summer, it's been a hole in the roster all season that is a mystery why Morey never looked to fill it.

I think he was hoping that one of Maxey, Melton or Milton would assume the role of backup PG. When it became obvious that none of them would, he should have either traded for or signed one like Dragic on the buyout market (would have made more sense than signing a redundant big like Dedmon IMO) or called up McClung from the G league sooner.
