The fact the NBA already investigated Harden missing the first weekend means this isn't going to be possible. They are really trying to crack down on all the star player rest. He's going to have to develop an injury or something to pull this off but I think the NBA is going to validate injuries this year too. I suspect we will see him playing as soon as next game.

You might be right. That being said, the first time Harden does anything malicious you suspend him immediately and tell Dave that Harden isn't playing again until the Clippers come correct.

Right...suspension is how you handle Harden behaving badly.

Back to the point. The team has like an offensive rating of 86 when Maxey and Joel are off the court. James would drastically improve that, especially with the likes of Oubre and Tobias and Melton on the floor with him. If they trade James that will continue to be a concern along with backup center.

They have to play the guy and he's capable of fitting into this new system off the ball... Because the ball moves.

I just can't see Harden being happy in this offense. The guys are holding onto the ball for long until they shoot or pass.

I'm definitely on the side of looking forward to what we get for him rather than what he'd look like on this team.
2025-2026 Philadelphia 76ers:

Maxey/McCain/Lowry
Grimes/Edgecombe/Gordon
Oubre/Edwards/Council
George/Watford/Walker
Embiid/Bona/Drummond/Broome

I would put him on the bench and try to limit pairing him with Maxey. Would help the team while letting Maxey continue to grow without him.

The question is if Harden brought his play level down, are the Sixers going to get punished if they are forced to sit him?

If they want to meet in the middle, you probably start Harden, let him do his thing, but try to stagger him with Maxey and try to get Maxey point duty every once in awhile.

Feels like the offseason is now complete.

When you could've had Harden walk for nothing and entered the Maxey era happily, you get depth at wing, a versatile roster in the interim along with a Clippers pick swap that could be really good. 2 unprotected picks, 2 seconds, and a young stud in KJM.

They picked up the top coach on the market

I also see the Oubre move for the minimum as being a huge move as he probably came here seeing the need for offense without James Harden.

B+ Morey. Well done
