Re: Sixers V Magic 1/12 6pm go burdz
Do they have an owner mandate where every game 4 people get the night off or something? Any functional organization this would be a sign they’re tanking, but we all know Morey will make a trade at the deadline and Embiid will come back in a few days and start playing again and everyone is left wondering why exactly is the plan here? If I was trying to design a plan to have them miss the playoffs but also lose their draft pick to OKC, this would be that exact plan.

Or Joel Embiid's plan.

Re: Sixers V Magic 1/12 6pm go burdz
At some point this team is going to have to face the harsh reality. We owe OKC a pick one way or another. I don't think there is any way we're going to be able to out tank Brooklyn, Utah, Charlotte or any of the teams ahead of us in the loss column. At best we pass Portland and end up with the 7th worst record. Chances are high that the pick goes to OKC, and it'd be quite painful to see them end up with the 7th pick in this draft. That's with us pulling a hard-core tank job. Even with that, I see us in a dogfight to Crack bottom 6 and keep the pick. I think best case scenario is we luck out, keep the pick and retool for next season. So...Our first choice is to just tank hard and hope we keep our pick. It's a risky move at this point considering how awful the teams are below us.
If the objective is to still win games just for spite, that's fine, but we aren't getting into the play-in. We'll finish in the bottom half and OKC will get a late lotto provided we don't hit on a Hail Mary by landing in the top 3.
This is truly a lose lose situation for us right now. We are completely screwed and it's going to be a wasted season. We're then going into 25-26 with guys all a year older and no significant form of upgrade.
I think after this season ends for us, things will go one of two ways. We'll either luck out, keep the pick and head into next season with a big time prospect added to our core. McCain will be back as well. We'll have a nice mix of youth, vets, and all stars to compete. If by the likelihood OKC vultures our pick from us...I can us selling and selling quick. Embiid may even be a draft night trade. We'll have to find a taker for Paul George and at that point, Maxey being moved starts to circulate.
I think this all comes down to if we get to keep our pick.

If we tank successfully we'll bring the whole team right back next year because we owe OKC another pick next year with more strict protection.
If we fail this year we sell this summer and tank hard next year.

Yes...That's the much shorter and better version of what I was saying.

Dude looks like he's cracking under the pressure right now.
I'm not really sure there's such thing as a special coach. Spo maybe? There's no awful ones to make the good ones standout.
The team is underperforming, but I'm honestly not sure by how much given the players he's had to actually utilize.
KJ becomes trade eligible on Wednesday. Hopefully Daryl gets something done soon to bring in an actual rotation player or two, and Embiid gets his ass on the damn court.

To me, that's the best path forward. Play this season out, OKC gets our pick, then sell everything off this summer, maybe even picking up a '25 pick in the process.
The plan should be a hard tank next season, then begin the "process" all over again. Maybe we'll be allowed to do it right this time.

They have two options, fire Nick Nurse or rebuild.
The other, continue with this ****, is negligence.

Re: Sixers V Magic 1/12 6pm go burdz
Coaches can only do so much. I mean Pop is considered one of if not the best coach in the game amirite? Yet even so, he's not really had a successful run in San Antonio since Duncan, Parker, and Ginobili retired. He's got Wemby now and it looks as though they are getting back to winning, but your player personnel are a much bigger determining factor. Same goes for Spo in Miami. Great coach, but he's limited in talent right now. I'm not going to say that Nick Nurse is a bad coach, but I felt like he got way more out of less talent in Toronto than he has here with more talent if that makes sense. I mean what happened to positionless basketball with five guys on the floor that could guard multiple positions? This is why I thought guys like Council and KJ would thrive and yet he's barely used them. I question his lineups probably more than anything else. I don't think he needs to be fired, but if we finish the year losers then he'll probably be gone. Nurse was my guy in 23. I was super stoked that we got him. I hate that it's not working out.

Don't think it's Nurse fault, sure he could be doing a little better but the whole situation is a mess.

Re: Sixers V Magic 1/12 6pm go burdz
Coach is the easiest thing to change. PG's bored comments smells of the normal "not being used right" thing that gets pushed right before the axe too lol (NOT saying PG wants him gone either btw).
Nurse is dealt a bad hand but at the same time the team keeps coming out with the same bad gameplan every night and that falls on him. Nurse was advertised as a mad scientist that tries weird ****...and boy is now a good time to do so lol. Needs to work Maxey off ball more especially when things are getting stuck. Just generally needs to push the pace more in general especially without Biid. Too many of our sets are stagnant and slow developing and thus often ends in someone trying to go 1 on 5 with 5 secs left on the clock. Run some pick and pops with Maxey and George. Use Oubre, Bona, Council as lob threats on Maxey's kamikaze ass drives. Right now the entire offense is just hoping a guy gets hot from deep and thats about it. Some of that is def roster construction but also feels like a lack of creativity....again especially if Biid isn't out there as i suspect he only wants to play a certain way but he's not here so its time to try new ****.

That's what bothers me the most with him. He's been so vanilla since he got here. Right now in particular feels like the time to be experimenting, but maybe that's another place where having a bunch of physically washed vets is a killer.
Morey having Lowry, Eric Gordon, Reggie Jackson and [open roster spot] on the same roster is malpractice.
