Remember when we were Winless For Wiggins ??!
Yeah, me too.
Nerlens Noel, Michael Carter-Williams, Troell Embiid, my main man Dario Naharis, Jersey-Tossing Jahlil, Benedict Simmons, Markelle The Franchise Fultz, Sesame Salmon Smith, of course how can we forget Jaden mf'ing Springer, some dude named 'David Roddy' , and the man myth legend - who would prefer making Tik-Tok videos with fingernail paint on than actually playing Basketball, Jared something or other - what's the *only good thing* that has happened in that time period?!
Tyrese motherfreakin Maxey son.
We should have just been Winless for Wiggins. But no, like when we draft Jerry Stackhouse instead of Kevin Garnett, we get the #2 pick instead of #1 so we wind up with KEITH VAN HORN instead of , you know, Tim Duncan , and pass on Dirk & Paul Pierce for Larry Big Game Hughes ... we just cannot have nice things.
Ohh my bad, did I forget to mention *BURNER ACCOUNTS*, Colangelos, and The Flightless Birds Of New Zealand?! Trust The Process, ladies & gents. Just keep on keepin on trustin that process... what could go wrong?!

Actually, it's safe to say that none of the guys on the roster are concerned with being in the lottery. Like you said, their interest is in enhancing their value for the next contract, and winning games only helps them.
As Morey continues to pick up young players with a pulse and something to prove, the chances decrease of piling up the losses necessary. If they were truly going to tank, George would be shut down right now and Maxey would be out with the slightest hangnail.
I can't do the daily grind over who needs to lose or who we have on the schedule. Whatever is going to happen will happen, but right now my expectation is for OKC to get this pick and my concern is what Morey's off season approach is going to be.
There is no offseason plan without the pick. It's why some of us are invested in scoreboard watching. Unless you're talking about a complete tear down/rebuild (which I don't see Morey a part of). Both George and Embiid are untradeable. We have no money to add any semblance of free agent (which never works any way). With a top five lottery pick this team can at least go into 25-26 with a pulse. Otherwise we're running it back with the same roster minus Grimes and Yabu who are going to get paid elsewhere. The way I see it is if we keep our pick (in a strong draft) then it helps us avoid another season of eating perpetual $hit with the circus that Paul George and Joel Embiid bring. With Dylan Harper, Bailey, or God willing Cooper Flagg we can make the transition, and move forward with or without relying on George and Embiid.
The other side to this that I sympathize with is just getting the hell out of OKCs back pocket and just handing over the GD draft pick so that we can all move on with our lives. If that's the case, then I look for $hit to start rolling downhill. Morey leaves, we potentially trade Maxey and force a rebuild despite having both George and Embiid under contract which will make it virtually impossible to escape the inevitable purgatory awaiting us. It's a $hitty time to be a fan of this team and it can get a lot worse if we miss on this pick. Our only other hope would be a miracle recovery from a then 31 year old Embiid and some sign of rejuvenated consistency out of podcast Paul for next season. Even then, at best we're a .500 ball club with play in aspirations. Like I said, it's a bad time to be a Sixer faithful and for me personally I have no choice but to cling to the fairytale pipedream of us not only keeping our pick, but that pick being Cooper Flagg.
I don't disagree with much of that, and have said a lot of the same things myself (with shorter paragraphs) Except sitting and grinding over what bad teams need to lose and watching this unwatchable team hoping for losses seems like a colossal waste of time - but that's just me.
I don't agree with the idea that the world ends if we don't get the pick. Of course getting it is the better outcome, but hitting rock bottom and being out of OKC's pocket provides the opportunity for that tear down, or at least semi-tear down this organization needs. I'd rather see an out-and-out tank next year than continuing the fantasy that Embiid and George can turn back the clock and we can compete.
If Harris and Co. finally recognize that it's over, then and only then can the 'healing' begin, but to me the worst case scenario would be this team being in the 8-10 range at the deadline and trying to once again gaslight the fan base that we can make a run, and wasting assets for more "win-now" pieces.
Point(s) taken. For what it worth, I have backed off on following this entire season. I can't completely ignore it and I'm sure by the end of the summer I will have talked myself into believing again with or without the pick. I also agree that it's not catastrophic if the pick conveys to OKC and we can just be done owing them.

There is still a scenario in which we keep the pick this year and surrender a pick in the teens or high 20s to OKC next year. Give me that outcome.
always a jump shot away.

Put this win on the backs of Maxey and PG. They got everyone involved and put them in position to hit easy shots. Grimes got happy went off script and took it too far. But Maxey and PG are the bad guys here.
You want it to be one way....but it's the other way.
