I love Yabu but they definitely should've traded him last season even if it was only for a SRP or two.sixerguy wrote:mjkvol wrote:
What does respect have to do with it? The Sixers are clearly going with youth and Yabusele wasn't in the plans.
Other than using him as a trade chip, there was little point in signing him. In fact , the Sixers showed more respect for him by allowing him to choose his own destination, if you're going to bring respect into it.
Then why didn't we trade him at the deadline last season? 6ers ultimately decided to keep him through the deadline, hoping to make a play-in push, but later lost him in free agency without compensation.
And he was a PF not a C

Re: Guerschon Yabusele Appreciation Thread
I would have much preferred to keep Yabusele and give him the full MLE instead of using it on our fourth guard. Wasn’t there a way to waive and stretch Drummond and Gordon to free up the necessary cap space? Signing him for two years at $12 million is an absolute steal for a position we really need to strengthen on this team

If by fourth guard you mean Grimes, then I disagree. I think Grimes would help winning more and is a better asset than Yabusele.sixerguy wrote:I would have much preferred to keep Yabusele and give him the full MLE instead of using it on our fourth guard. And technically they have the TPMLE and the space to sign Yabusele. However, if they signed him then its possible they would not be able to sign/match Grimes. The Sixers could've chosen Yabusele over Grimes, but I think that would've been a mistake.
Stretching Gordon or Drummond isn't a great idea if they wanted to sign both Grimes and Yabusele either, because they are already so close to second apron that I'm not even sure they'd be able to get to necessary roster spots of fourteen.
IMO, best options were either paying probably a couple seconds to get off Drummond which would free up a little over $2M if you knew that was enough for Grimes to accept a deal. If they weren't sure or didn't feel Yabusele was worth giving up assets, then what they did was the best move even though it kinda sucks.

Yabu indicated the Sixers made him a really, really low offer. It did not compare to the Knicks offer.

What a response to being disrespected by our ownership in his farewell message to Philly! Truly a class act!!!
