It remains to be seen if it's wrong. I don't dislike Tre at all, but if he is nothing but a guy who can shoot the lights out, what does that make him?
Kon showed he can do different things at Duke, but if his impact at the NBA level ends being a 3-pt. shooter and no more, then Doug McDermott it is.

No, it’s wrong now because Tre has shown at Texas way more passing and playmaking chops than Cam Thomas has ever shown in his life. He’s also a way more efficient and dynamic shooter than Thomas.
It’s an old and frankly lazy take.
always a jump shot away.

Re: 2025 Sixers Summer League
I like Tre Johnson, Cam Thomas, and Brice Sensabaugh, all three are talented players. But when it comes to scoring, Tre isn’t nearly on Cam’s level, and Brice was a significantly better scorer in college than Tre, averaging 40 points per 100 possessions which is comparable to Zion and Trae Young.
Cam had a 22.9% assist rate with the Nets last season, showing he can create more than just his own shot. Both he and Tre posted a 55% true shooting percentage in college, so I wouldn’t say Tre was more efficient overall. Brice Sensabaugh is actually more efficient than both at 58% true shooting percentage. Tre is the better 3pt shooter, but Cam clearly has the edge in getting to the FT line.
Cam is also a more complete 3 level scorer, he can hit threes, knock down mid-range shots, get to the rim, and draw contact. He’s also far better in isolation situations.
You can check draft threads going back to 2021, I’ve consistently been high on this archetype, and I know Tre falls into that category. But even within that archetype, Tre is, at best, on equal with Cam Thomas or Brice Sensabaugh.
That said, give it a season or two, and once the rookie hype dies down, all three will be viewed in the same tier.
Shout out Jalen Green and Anfernee Simons.

Re: 2025 Sixers Summer League
Overreaction: I haven’t been impressed with Dylan Harper in Summer League. He looks slow, struggles with his right hand dribble (defense likes to force him right), and his shooting is questionable. He feels more like a wing who can handle the ball. Right now, he reminds me of an athletic version of Evan Turner. I don’t think he’ll have the same “developmental runway” with the Spurs, and I expect him to play a role similar to Evan Turner’s back when he was alongside Jrue and Iguodala. But if the shooting eventually comes around, he has real star potential.

Nobody disagrees with the scoring potential of Cam Thomas in college and how that translated to the NBA. What makes Tre Johnson intriguing is that he could provide that same level of scoring output with more playmaking and being 4 inches longer.

He won't just be on the poster, he'll be on T-shirts no doubt about it.

Me too. I was team bailey all the way, but between VJ and Harper i´m all in on Edge. He will be better than harper no doubt, Dylan seems like a low ceiling kinda of player. Way worst prospect than fultz...

Re: 2025 Sixers Summer League
Tre is basketball Cris Carter
all he does is score (touchdowns)
a silly statement on paper since the game is about scoring but the context is what else does he bring to the table...especially if the shot is not falling. BUT shooting gravity opens up the floor even on off nights so I think it is still valuable. The difference between him an Cam Thomas is that Cam's scoring comes off of a lot of self created mid rangers, Tre is also elite off ball and from deeper. He is also bigger and longer (ayooo).
Gonna be a good player for sure

From what they’ve shown imo:
Flagg
Johnson/Edgecombe (even)
Bailey
Harper
Kon
I actually think they all will be good. This was a great draft.
always a jump shot away.

I've been traveling a bit, but has VJ been officially shut down for summer league or is there a chance he's playing tonight?
