Willie Green Countdown

Post#1 » by tk76 » Fri Jan 11, 2008 2:31 pm

I want to be the first to celebrate the hopefully imminent departure of Willie Green.

Ed, you are on the clock. You have to move him for a bucket of balls before the trade deadline. If we have to suffer watching a bad team don't make us watch 30 minutes of Willie Green badder basketball.

Let the first step be tonight with him no longer starting, and then we wait for the other shoe to drop...

I have no problems with that as long as Thad is starting and Iggy moved to guard. And that is the way it should be.

Maybe this team can generate some revenue to make up for its lagging attendence by making a Badder Basketball Sixers Instructionional DVD.

Learn from NBA starters like Willie Green and Reggie Evans.

i wonder who would take willie? but my man thad should get more minutes
Thank God for Don Nelson. He makes basketball fun. He and Mike D'Antoni should be revered for doing what most coaches are afraid to do: let players play.

if you want someone to take WG you should probably say what first round pick you are willing to give up for someone to take him

tk- I think that pick might be enough to move Evans- I don't think that would be nearly enough to move green.

how in the world Billy King gave Willie Green all that money AFTER he got hurt is beyond me.

Can't be mad at Willie though.

Still, I have no clue why he is still getting so many minutes, at the expense of Lou Williams, Jason Smith, and Thad Young. Incredible.

Let's hope Fast Willie's starting role is because Ed is trying to feverishly move by highlighting him, not because he some crazy infatuation with him.

There are people here who would deal Dalembert-Carney, and our 1st rounder this year for Gasol, and the leagues WORST guard in Lowry. Who shoots barely 40 %, and makes Andre Miller look like Larry Bird from the 3 Pt line. But yet a guard who is 6ft, 4, and very athletic and plays defense and makes 3 million a year who averages over 13 to 14 a game is totally a bad contract ? And unmoveable ? You guys need to STOP paying any attention to KillBuckner.

There, I edited this. God Forbid I wouldn't want to offend Delicate Mr. Dbodner :-)

Look KB, you may know some things. And some of your posts have been okay. But you are totally missing the boat on Green. If he came off the bench instead of starting, I as a sixer fan would have no problems with that. You need to do some research and see how many players in the league make way more than the 3 million Green gets, but who barely play, or who barely do anything when they do play.

It's not like Green is making 6 to 7 million a year, and is a Lazy Bum. He Isn't. He tries hard. And can light em up when he is on. I still say put him off the bench on a GOOD team, and his % numbers will rise as well.

I don't doubt that he tries hard and can score- albeit inefficiently and without creating for others- but he is 3.5M in cap space that we an clear and easily replace. If it is the difference between having 11 and 14.5 M to offer a big name player could be the difference in the success or failure of our offseason.

Having Willier Green on the roster makes no impact on our current or future success.

So you're down 13 with 3:20 to go and you insert Young and Smith into the line-up alonside Dalembert, Iguodala, and Miller.

And by the 1:00 mark you''ve cut the lead to 4.

A similar thing happened in the fourth quarter of the previous game in Toronto with that same five on the floor.

I think its only a matter of time before you see that five start a game.
