are the sixers impeding lou will's development

Post#1 » by sweetlou23 » Fri Jan 11, 2008 5:06 pm

Are the sixers creating a schizophrenic combo guard by asking will to split time at the two and also be aggressive at the point. I realize that Lou Will has been in a slump ever since his injury. But it seems like cheeks is telling lou will to shoot the ball and Igs is wanting him to pass. most of the time when igs is in lou is playing the two. Also, miller does a good job of using lou as the last option on offense. how many back door cuts does lou get as opposed to willie and KK(when he was here). Is it difficult for a player who plays limited minutes to switch back and forth when he is still learning how to run the point?

No.

Stupid Mo Cheeks and Willie Green are co*k blocking Lou's development.

i'd rather start lou williams at sg or pg than willie green, lou knows how to attack the basket
Thank God for Don Nelson. He makes basketball fun. He and Mike D'Antoni should be revered for doing what most coaches are afraid to do: let players play.

I personally don't like Lou Williams switching between PG/SG at this stage of his career either. Pick a position, play him there. That's it. But with Andre around eating up minutes, Williams needs playing time so what can you do? Backup PG minutes won't cut it. This situation would obviously alleviate itself when Miller gets traded.

Lou Will is doing this to himself. Selfish. Attacking the basket? How about instead of attacking the basket you make some shots from the NBA. What is the the playground?

lou is a PG period..regardless of who is on the floor and his scoring ability. he does not have enough size to guard other SG. He will still have to get stronger to get through screens. the only way he makes it in this league is to be a PG.The more he develops his passing ability, the more scoring opportunities will open up for him. summer 07 i predicted 8pts 4ast for lou would be great step forward, he had exceed that expectation and we should continue to develop him from the bench where, once he gets out of this lull he will get back to scorching other teams second unit. Lets be patient with Lou. It has worked so far.

Is he better than willie, definitely. Lou just needs conisistency, your not going to get that from him by starting at SG next to Miller. Difference between Lou and Willie: Lou is talented and inconsistent while willie is not very talented and is not consistent whatsoever. Next year lou can start if it appropriate - For now we should bench wille and start thad. If lou was a SF i would start but he id not-he is a PG.

Lou's target NBA player imo should be Baron Davis, not as tall, but they have the same attitude about scoring, lou just needs to use that to his advantage to create more space for his teammates and get his assist up once he gets starters minutes at PG nextyear once Miller is moved this summer.

he has to attack the basket, that is his strength, he is not being selfish..you take what the D gives you and if they match up someone slower than yo---->go to the hole..simple..especially since he is our best finisher next to Igs. Once we get some people who can shoot, lou can start dishing the ball once gets collapsed on in the hole..but for now he is doing it right--->get there and get to the line-

lou is currently at 7.3 ap48 min

top 30 in total assists and the 2nd best in assist from a bench PG only duhon is in front of him - that is hardly selfish- he is ourbest 3pt shooter as well so i m not surre what you want him to do.
you want selfish look at Willie-every time he is on the break he will take it all the way-even if Igs and Miller on either side of him ready to finish.

I love lou's offensive game, but his lack of ability to guard other players hurt so much. Its a gamble whenever we play him. I like him coming off the bench and being a spark. His size just makes it hard to rely on him heavily. Its just poor when we have to help double team when a mediocre pg begins to post him. If his decision making as a pg gets better im all for his minutes going up, but if he cant run the offense like he should, I say watch his minutes.

Lou Williams's defense has gotten as good as his offense.(at least in terms of effort), I think for what it's worth he's a better defender then Iverson ever was at the age of, what is he 22 or 23?

uh..no..AI was defensive POY 2 years in a row for georgetown...as a pro his man on man wasn't the best i agree but he compensated by playing the passing lanes and getting steals..when AI wanted to play he was better than lou hands down, its just that AI rarely played d in the last two years he was here..so i see where your coming from..
